Loperamide acute Aristo® is a remedy for acute diarrhea.There are various causes that can trigger acute diarrhea and every person reacts differently to the triggering factors.Stress, wrong food or gastrointestinal flu/gastrointestinal viruses are among the most common causes.Most viral infections in the gastrointestinal tract are caused by noroviruses, which can cause acute diarrhea.Diarrhea (also diarrhea or diarrhoea) is not an illness, but a symptom.

Loperamide acute Aristo® is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea for adults and children aged 12 and over, provided no causal therapy is available.It reduces the urge to defecate and stops diarrhea.Treatment with loperamide for longer than 2 days may only be carried out under medical supervision.If possible, the cause should also be treated.Therefore, talk to your doctor.

Loperamide acute Aristo® is quickly effective and proven for the treatment of acute diarrhea.Make sure you replace fluids and salts (electrolytes) adequately.This is the most important treatment measure for diarrhea, as it can lead to large losses of fluid and salt.This is especially true for children.

Loperamide acute Aristo® contains:

2 mg loperamide hydrochloride

1.86 mg loperamide

Cellulose, microcrystalline (excipient)

Croscarmellose, sodium salt (excipient)

Magnesium stearate (excipient)

Silicon dioxide, highly disperse (excipient)

Area of application

Loperamide acute Aristo® is an anti-diarrheal medication.It is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and children aged 12 and over if no causal therapy is available.Treatment beyond two days may only be carried out under medical supervision.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose for adults is initially 2 tablets (equivalent to 4 mg of loperamide hydrochloride), followed by 1 tablet (equivalent to 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride) after each unformed stool.The maximum daily dose is 6 tablets (corresponding to 12 mg loperamide hydrochloride).

Adolescents aged 12 and over take 1 tablet (corresponding to 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride) at the beginning and after each unformed stool.The maximum daily dose is 4 tablets (corresponding to 8 mg loperamide hydrochloride).

Children under 12 years of age should not be treated with this medicine as it is not suitable for them.

Do not take the medicine for more than 2 days without medical advice.If diarrhea persists after 2 days of treatment, you must stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you take more than you should, see a doctor immediately, especially if you experience any unusual symptoms.

If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.If you have any further questions about use, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

Take the tablets whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of water.

Patient information

Children under 2 years of age must not be treated with medicines containing loperamide.Children between 2 and 12 years of age may only be treated with loperamide if prescribed by a doctor.Due to the high active ingredient content, the preparation is not suitable for this age group.

Take special care if you have AIDS and are taking the medicine to treat diarrhea.Stop taking it at the first sign of abdominal distention and consult your doctor.

If you have liver disease, you should consult your doctor before taking it, as the breakdown of loperamide may be delayed.

Make sure you replace fluids and salts adequately, as diarrhea can lead to large losses.This is especially important for children.

The medicine causes the diarrhea to stop without treating the cause.If possible, the cause should also be treated.Therefore, talk to your doctor.

The recommended dosage and duration of use of 2 days must not be exceeded to avoid severe constipation.

Tiredness, dizziness and sleepiness may occur if you have diarrhea or as a result of taking the medicine.Therefore, be careful when driving or working with machines.

Pregnancy

Before taking any medication, always ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.

Pregnancy: Although no clear evidence of teratogenic effects has been found in a limited number of women, you should not use the medicine during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding: Since small amounts of the active ingredient can pass into breast milk, you should not use the medicine while breastfeeding.
