NaCl 0.9% B. Braun rinsing solution is sterile and endotoxin-free.The solution contains 9.00 g in aqua ad iniectabilia in 1000 ml of sodium chloride.The electrolytes are given as mmol/l Na+ 154 and Cl- 154.
Areas of application
The NaCl 0.9% B. Braun rinsing solution can be used for various purposes.This includes rinsing and cleaning during surgical procedures, rinsing wounds and burns, and moistening wound packs, cloths and bandages.It is also suitable for rinsing and cleaning bladder catheters and for ostomy care.Rinsing and cleaning instruments and accessories is also possible.The solution can be used for intra- and postoperative irrigation during endoscopic procedures without HF-electricity and after TUR-procedures.It is also used for filling breathing air humidification devices, for mechanical eye rinsing and for nasal rinsing.
Dosage
The amount of fluid required depends on the respective situation and should be adjusted accordingly.
Overdose
In the event of an overdose during wound irrigation and intraoperative use, absorption of irrigation fluid can occur, which can lead to hypervolemia in the sense of hypotonic hyperhydration (hyponatremia).Symptoms of hyperhydration include headache, nausea, restlessness and disorientation.In severe cases, coma-like conditions can occur.
Countermeasures in case of overdose
In the event of an overdose, rinsing should be discontinued and water and electrolyte balance corrected according to the clinical situation.
Warnings and precautions
The solution must not be used for infusion.It should only be used if the closure is unbroken and the solution is clear.Opened containers must not be stored; remaining quantities must be discarded.Reuse of single-use devices poses a potential risk to the patient or user and may result in contamination and/or impairment of functionality.This can result in injury, illness or death to the patient.The solution should be kept out of the reach of children.If there is a risk of absorbing large amounts of solution, as may be the case when used in large body cavities or on large wounds, the solution should not be used in patients in a state of hyperhydration.Caution is advised in hypertonic dehydration, hypokalemia, hypernatremia, hyperchloremia and conditions in which restricted sodium intake is indicated, such as heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia and severe renal insufficiency.NaCl 0.9% B. Braun must not be used for intrathecal irrigation procedures.
Undesirable side effects
There are no known undesirable side effects.
Expiry date
The solution must not be used after the expiry date stated on the label.
