Softasept® N - Ready-to-use, alcoholic skin disinfectant

Softasept® N is a ready-to-use, alcohol-based skin disinfectant that is used for rapid disinfection of the skin before injections, punctures and surgical procedures.No prescription is required for this product.

Properties

Softasept® N is characterized by a short exposure time of just 15 seconds and is free of microbicidal additives.It offers a long-term effect of up to 24 hours and is effective against bacteria, including MRSA and TbB, as well as against fungi.It also has a limited virucidal effect, including against HBV, HCV, HIV, and is effective against rotaviruses and polioviruses.The product dries quickly and is available in both a colorless and a colored version.It can be billed as a consultation hour requirement, whereby the regulations of individual consultation hour requirements agreements must be observed.Softasept® N is DGHM/VAH listed.

Indications

Softasept® N is used for skin disinfection before injections and punctures, such as blood samples and vaccinations, as well as before surgical procedures.

Application

Softasept® N is applied undiluted and the skin areas to be treated are completely wetted.The skin areas must be kept moist during the prescribed exposure time.After the exposure time, the skin is allowed to dry.During preoperative skin disinfection, “puddle formation” under the patient should be avoided in order to prevent possible skin irritation.Before using electrical devices, the preparation must be completely dry on the skin.

Ingredients

The active ingredients of Softasept® N are ethanol and isopropanol.Each gram of solution contains 741 milligrams of ethanol and 100 milligrams of isopropanol.Purified water is also included as an additional ingredient.

Notes

Softasept® N is highly flammable and should therefore be kept away from ignition sources.The container must be kept tightly closed and the product must not be sprayed into open flames.It is not suitable for use on injured skin or mucous membranes and must not be placed in the eyes.The product is intended for external use only.The flash point is 14 °C according to DIN 51755. Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or the outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
