Instructions for use for Saline solution 0.9% Ecoflac Plus, 10X250 ml
Isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun infusion solution
The isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun is an infusion solution that is used universally in infusion therapy. It is stable, easy to grip and break-proof, has an integrated hanger and does not require any ventilation. The puncture port is already germ-free, which makes handling easier. The solution also saves space when transporting, storing and disposing of items. It is DEHP/PVC-free and latex-free.
Areas of application
The isotonic saline solution 0.9% brown is used to replace fluids and salt in cases of fluid deficiency (isotonic dehydration) or simultaneous sodium and fluid deficiency (hypotonic dehydration). It is also used when the pH value is increased and the chloride level is simultaneously reduced (hypochloremic alkalosis) and when there is a loss of chloride. It is also used for short-term filling of the vascular system (intravascular volume replacement), as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates and compatible medications, as well as for wound treatment and for moistening cloths and bandages.
Active ingredient and composition
The active ingredient of the isotonic saline solution 0.9% brown is sodium chloride.1000 ml of the infusion solution contains 9.0 g sodium chloride. The other ingredient is water for injections. The electrolytes in the solution are sodium ions (154 mmol/l) and chloride ions (154 mmol/l).
Application and dosage
The isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun is applied intravenously or used for rinsing and moistening. The dosage depends on fluid and electrolyte needs. The maximum dose is 40 ml per kg body weight per day, which corresponds to 6 mmol sodium per kg body weight per day.The solution is usually administered at up to 5 ml per kg of body weight per hour, which corresponds to around 1.7 drops per kg of body weight per minute. In exceptional cases, such as after major blood loss, the solution can also be administered at a higher rate as a pressure infusion.
Side effects and precautions
Like all medicines, the isotonic saline solution 0.9% Braun can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include increased levels of sodium and chloride in the blood (hypernatremia and hyperchloremia). The solution must not be used if overwatering is present.Particular caution is required if there is a low level of potassium in the blood (hypokalemia), an increased level of sodium in the blood (hypernatremia), an increased level of chloride in the blood (hyperchloremia) and certain diseases such as heart failure, fluid accumulation in the tissues, pulmonary edema, high blood pressure, eclampsia and severe kidney dysfunction.
Storage
