Directions for use of the article Calcimagon Extra D3 Chewable Tablets: Calcimagon Extra D3 is a medicinal product in the form of white, round chewable tablets containing calcium and vitamin D3. It is used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency in elderly people. It can also be used as an additional treatment to support specific osteoporosis therapy. Before taking Calcimagon Extra D3, you should note that it must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium, vitamin D or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. It is also contraindicated in people with severe impairment of kidney function, an excessively high level of calcium or vitamin D in the blood or urine, or kidney stones. There are some warnings and precautions that should be observed, such as consulting a doctor or pharmacist if you are receiving long-term treatment, taking diuretics or cardiac glycosides, or have certain conditions such as sarcoidosis or immobilisation osteoporosis. Use in children and adolescents is not intended. It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines, as Calcimagon Extra D3 may affect the effectiveness of some medicines. There may be interactions with tetracycline preparations, bisphosphonates, levothyroxine, quinolone antibiotics and medicines containing iron, zinc and strontium ranelate. Calcimagon Extra D3 can be taken with or without food. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. There are no known effects on the ability to drive or operate machinery. Possible side effects of Calcimagon Extra D3 are rare and may include constipation, indigestion, flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, itching, skin rash, hives and lactic alkali syndrome. In the case of impaired kidney function, increased amounts of phosphate in the blood, kidney stone formation and increased amounts of calcium in the kidneys may also occur. Calcimagon Extra D3 should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be stored above 30°C. The pack size can be 30, 60 or 90 chewable tablets. The dosage of Calcimagon Extra D3 is 1 chewable tablet per day for adults and elderly people. The exact duration of use and possible overdose symptoms should be discussed with a doctor.
