Emla Patch is a patch containing active ingredients for anaesthetising the skin before needle insertions or minor surgical procedures on the skin. It contains the active ingredients lidocaine and prilocaine, which belong to the group of local anaesthetics and temporarily numb the skin. The patch is applied to clean, dry and hairless skin and should be applied at least one hour before the planned procedure. It should not be applied to cuts, abrasions, wounds, rashes, eczema, near the eyes or in the mouth. The number of patches and the exposure time depend on age and area of application. After the application time, the patch is removed. Possible side effects include skin redness, pain and itching at the application site. The patch should be kept out of the reach of children and below 30°C. It is important to consult a doctor or pharmacist and read the package leaflet before use.
