Description of the vitamin E preparation

This medicine is a vitamin E preparation used to treat vitamin E deficiency conditions.However, it is not suitable for cases where the absorption of vitamin E from the intestine is impaired.In such situations, other dosage forms such as injection solutions are available.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 300 mg RRR-alpha-tocopherol acetate, which corresponds to an RRR-alpha-tocopherol equivalent of 201.34 mg.It also contains the excipients cochineal red A, gelatin and glycerol 85%.

Contraindications

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose for adults is 1 soft capsule containing 201 mg once daily, which corresponds to 300 mg DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate or 201 mg RRR-alpha-tocopherol equivalent.

The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease.Please ask your doctor about this.Also talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more than you should, please contact a doctor.There are no known dangerous symptoms resulting from an overdose.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose, but continue taking it as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the instructions for use.

Intake

The capsules should be taken whole with sufficient liquid, preferably with a glass of drinking water (200 ml).

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the preparation if you are also taking certain medicines to inhibit blood clotting or if you have a vitamin K deficiency.In the case of a combined vitamin E and vitamin K deficiency caused by malabsorption, blood clotting must be carefully monitored, as in individual cases there has been a severe drop in vitamin K.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Always ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking or using any medication.During pregnancy you should consume 13 mg of vitamin E daily.The preparation passes through the placenta and so far no damage has been observed in the unborn child - even when higher doses are taken.

If you are breastfeeding, you should consume 17 mg of vitamin E daily, as the preparation passes into breast milk.
