IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg is an anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and pain-relieving medicine that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR).It is used for short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain, acute migraine headaches with and without aura, and fever.

Mode of action

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen, which acts against pain, inhibits inflammation and reduces fever.The active ingredient inhibits the production of the body's own messenger substances prostaglandins, which play a crucial role in inflammatory reactions and the mediation of pain.

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ibuprofen.Each film-coated tablet contains 293 mg ibuprofen (as ibuprofen-dl-lysine (1:1)).The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, croscarmellose sodium, glycerol 85%, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur) [pflanzlich], macrogol 6000, talc and highly dispersed silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg film-coated tablets must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, have had asthma attacks in the past, have had swelling of the nasal mucosa or have had skin reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, have existing or occurred stomach or intestinal ulcers, stomach or intestinal bleeding, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, severe, uncontrolled heart problems, in the last 3 months of pregnancy and in children40 kg (12 years).

Dosage

Adolescents aged 15 and over and adults take 1 tablet for a maximum total daily dose of 4 tablets of IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg film-coated tablets.Adolescents over 12 years of age with a body weight of 40 kg or more take 1 tablet with a maximum total daily dose of 2-3 tablets of IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg film-coated tablets.The film-coated tablets should be taken whole and preferably during or after a meal with sufficient liquid.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) during or after a meal.If you have a sensitive stomach, it is recommended to take the medicine with meals.Take the medicine according to your doctor's instructions or according to the dosage instructions provided.If you feel that you are not getting sufficient pain relief, do not increase the dosage yourself, but ask your doctor.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug.Concomitant use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including so-called COX-2 inhibitors (cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitors), should be avoided.Side effects can be reduced by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary to control symptoms.Elderly patients should be monitored particularly carefully by a doctor as they may experience side effects more frequently.

Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers and perforations may occur during treatment with all NSAR .The risk of developing gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers and perforations is higher with increasing NSARdose, in patients with a history of ulcers and in elderly patients.These patients should begin treatment at the lowest available dose.

Medicines like this medicine may be associated with a small increased risk of heart attack ("myocardial infarction") or stroke.Any risk is more likely with high doses and longer duration of treatment.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration (maximum 4 days).

Serious skin reactions with redness and blistering have been reported very rarely with NSARtherapy.At the first sign of skin rashes, mucous membrane defects or other signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, the medicine should be discontinued and the doctor should be consulted immediately.

The medicine should only be used after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio in the case of certain congenital blood formation disorders, certain autoimmune diseases, immediately after major surgical procedures, allergies, chronic nasal mucosal swelling or chronic respiratory diseases that narrow the airways, as well as impaired kidney or liver function.

Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions are very rarely observed.At the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction after taking the drug, therapy must be discontinued.Medically necessary measures appropriate to the symptoms must be initiated by specialists.

Ibuprofen can temporarily inhibit platelet function.Patients with blood clotting disorders should therefore be carefully monitored.If medicines containing ibuprofen are used at the same time, the anticoagulant effect of low-dose acetylsalicylic acid may be impaired.You should therefore not use medicines containing ibuprofen without your doctor's express instructions.

If the drug is administered for a long time, regular monitoring of liver values, kidney function and blood counts is necessary.If you take the medicine before surgical procedures, you should consult or inform your doctor or dentist.With prolonged use of painkillers, headaches may occur, which should not be treated with increased doses of the drug.

In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially when several painkillers are combined, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure.The medicine belongs to a group of medicines that can affect women's fertility.This effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.

Since central nervous side effects such as tiredness and dizziness can occur when using the drug in higher doses, in individual cases the ability to react can be changed and the ability to actively participate in road traffic and operate machines can be impaired.This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.You can then no longer react quickly and specifically enough to unexpected and sudden events.In this case, do not drive a car or other vehicles!Do not operate any tools or machines!Do not work without a secure hold!

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.The medicine must not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine if you no longer need it.This measure helps to protect the environment.

Pregnancy

If pregnancy is discovered while using the medicine, the doctor should be notified.You may only use ibuprofen in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy after consulting your doctor.The medicine must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy due to an increased risk of complications for mother and child.

The active ingredient ibuprofen and its breakdown products only pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since there are no known adverse consequences for the infant, it is generally not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding if used for a short period of time.However, if longer doses of higher doses are prescribed, early discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered.

Other

If there is severe pain in the upper abdomen, vomiting of blood, blood in the stool or if the stool turns black, the medicine should be discontinued and the doctor should be informed immediately.Side effects can be reduced by always taking the smallest effective amount for the shortest possible time.If you take it for a long time, have your liver values, kidney function and blood count checked regularly.Long-term, high-dose, improper use of painkillers can cause headaches that cannot be treated with increased amounts of the drug. Application

For adults: In adults, if it is necessary to take this medicine for more than 3 days for fever and migraine headaches or for more than 4 days for other pain, or if symptoms worsen, medical advice should be sought.

For adolescents: If adolescents need to take this medicine for more than 3 days or if symptoms worsen, medical advice should be sought.

Adolescents aged 12 and over (from 40 kg body weight) and adults: Single dose: 1 film-coated tablet (approx. 300 mg ibuprofen).Total daily dose (distributed throughout the day): up to 4 film-coated tablets (up to approx. 1200 mg ibuprofen).If you have taken a single dose, wait at least 6 hours before taking the next dose.Please take the film-coated tablets whole with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water) during or after a meal.For patients who have a sensitive stomach, it is recommended to take IBU-LYSIN-ratiopharm® 293 mg during meals.

Notes

The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per film-coated tablet, which means it is almost “sodium-free”.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
