Treatment of iron deficiency conditions

This medicine is used to treat iron deficiency conditions.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 152.836 mg iron(II)sulfate, dried, and 50 mg iron(II)ions.The following excipients are also included: calcium carbonate, calcium stearate, carboxymethyl starch sodium salt type A, cellulose powder, copovidone, iron hydroxide, iron oxide, cocoa butter, lactose-1-water, 5.5 mg lactose, macrogol 4000, magnesium stearate (vegetable), corn starch, maltodextrin, sodium dodecyl sulfate, povidone K25, 4.7 mg sucrose, shellac(dewaxed), talc, titanium dioxide and 1 mmol total sodium ions.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to iron sulfate or any of the other ingredients.The product must also not be used if you have anemia caused by infections or cancer and are not caused by iron deficiency.It is also not applicable if there is an accumulation of iron in the blood or iron utilization disorders.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adults should take one film-coated tablet four times a day.Children weighing 25 kg or more take one film-coated tablet three times a day.It is not intended for use by children under 25 kg.In the case of kidney or liver diseases, there are insufficient data to make specific dosage recommendations.The amount of iron required depends on the stage of iron deficiency, please discuss this with your doctor.

The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease.In principle, therapy for at least eight weeks is required to achieve therapeutic success.After the blood values have normalized, treatment should be continued for another six to eight weeks to replenish iron stores.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you overdose, please inform your doctor.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose, but continue taking it as planned.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be taken whole in the morning on an empty stomach or one hour before meals with sufficient liquid to avoid damage to the mucous membranes.Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not keep it in your mouth for any longer.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking.The tablets must not be sucked, chewed or left in the mouth for a long time to avoid mouth ulcers and tooth discoloration.Particular caution should be exercised in the event of inflammation or ulceration of the gastrointestinal mucosa or when additional dietary or other iron salt supplements are taken.In children under 25 kg, an overdose may result in poisoning.

There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Treatment should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment and consultation with your doctor.Even during breastfeeding, the preparation should only be prescribed after carefully weighing up the benefits and risks and after consulting your doctor.
