Loperamide STADA® acute 2 mg hard capsules are a drug for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over, provided no causal treatment is available.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Diarrhea is a digestive disorder in which fluid increases in stool volume.The stool may be mushy to watery and the number of bowel movements increases.This leads to a loss of water, minerals and energy, which can lead to severe weakness.Diarrhea can be triggered by food intolerances, viruses or bacteria, especially when traveling, as well as psychological factors such as stress or anxiety.

Treatment with loperamide acute for longer than 2 days may only be carried out under a doctor's prescription and follow-up monitoring.This product is ideal for a travel first aid kit.

Loperamide STADA acute 2 mg hard capsules contain the active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride.One hard capsule contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride.The other ingredients are gelatin, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, corn starch, talc, quinoline yellow (E 104), iron(II,III) oxide (E 172), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172), indigo carmine (E 132) and titanium dioxide (E 171).

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to loperamide hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients, in conditions where slowing of intestinal activity must be avoided, such as abdominal distention, constipation and intestinal obstruction, and in children up to 8 years of age.

Dosage

The hard capsules should be swallowed whole with a little liquid.Do not take Loperamide STADA® for longer than 2 days without medical advice.If diarrhea persists after 2 days of treatment, Loperamide STADA® must be discontinued and a doctor must be consulted.

Patient information

The medicine should not be used in cases of diarrhea accompanied by fever and/or bloody stools, an acute attack of ulcerative colitis, or diarrhea that occurs during or after taking antibiotics.If you have liver disease, the medicine should only be taken after consulting your doctor.In case of diarrhea, special attention must be paid to replacing fluids and salts, especially in children.

Children under 2 years of age must not be treated with medicines containing loperamide.For children between 2 and 8 years of age, the dosage must be calculated based on body weight.Due to the high active ingredient content, this medicine is not suitable for this age group.Store drug out of reach of children.You must not use the medicine after the stated expiry date.

Pregnancy

Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice.Since there is no experience with its use in pregnant women and the active ingredient passes into breast milk, it should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
