Description

Protecor Hawthorn 600 mg film-coated tablets are a herbal medicine made from the leaves and flowers of the hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna and Crataegus laevigata).The active ingredients in hawthorn promote a slight increase in cardiac output by increasing the heart's beating power.In addition, blood flow to the heart muscle and coronary arteries is improved and tolerance to oxygen deficiency is increased.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Protecor Hawthorn 600 mg film-coated tablets are used when the heart's performance declines, corresponding to stage II according to NYHA.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each film-coated tablet contains 600 mg of dry extract of hawthorn leaves with flowers (4-7:1) as the active ingredient.The extractant is ethanol 45% (V/V).The other ingredients are maltodextrin, colloidal silicon dioxide, cellulose powder, refined castor oil, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), stearic acid, hypromellose, talc, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E 171) and iron(III)oxide (E 172).

Dosage and intake

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is half a film-coated tablet three times a day.The film-coated tablets are provided with a break line so that they can be divided into two halves.Break the film-coated tablet at the break line and swallow half the film-coated tablet whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water).Store the divided film-coated tablet away from light and moisture until you take it.Do not take the film-coated tablets while lying down.

It is recommended to take Protecor Hawthorn 600 mg for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of six months.The treating doctor should then determine the further duration of use.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug if the symptoms of the disease persist unchanged for more than six weeks or if water accumulates in the legs.In these cases, we recommend consulting your doctor.If you have pain in the heart area that can radiate to the arms, upper abdomen or neck area, or if you have difficulty breathing, immediate medical attention is essential.

There are no sufficient studies on the use of this medicine in children under 12 years of age.It should therefore not be taken by children under 12 years of age.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

From the widespread use of hawthorn as a medicine and from experimental studies, there have been no indications of risks and side effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Protecor Hawthorn 600 mg contains glucose.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
