Instructions for use for Clotrimazole Aristo 2% vaginal cream + 3 applicators., 20 g
Area of application
This medicine is an antifungal and is used to treat fungal infections. The vaginal cream is used for vaginal inflammation and discharge caused by fungi, usually Candida. It is also suitable for additional infections with bacteria sensitive to clotrimazole, so-called superinfections.
Ingredients
The vaginal cream contains 0.02 g of clotrimazole as the active ingredient. The excipients include (RS)-2-octyldodecan-1-ol, 10 mg benzyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, cetostearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate and purified water.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dose is one applicator filling (approx. 5 g of vaginal cream) once a day in the evening for three consecutive days, which is inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina.
Treatment for three consecutive days is usually sufficient to clear a fungal infection. However, if necessary, a second treatment cycle can be added. The signs of vaginal inflammation caused by fungi generally disappear significantly within the first four days after starting treatment. If there is no significant improvement in symptoms after four days, please contact your doctor.
No prescription is required for this product.
There are no reports of cases of poisoning with clotrimazole. If you forget to use it in the evening, you can do it again the following morning.Next time, do not use a larger amount of vaginal cream, but continue treatment as recommended.
In order to achieve complete healing of the infection and prevent a relapse, you should not stop or interrupt treatment prematurely without consulting your doctor. You should therefore not stop the treatment as soon as the symptoms have subsided, but rather continue it consistently for three days.
Application
Insert an applicator filling (approx. 5 g) as deeply as possible into the vagina once a day in the evening for three consecutive days. The application is best done lying on your back with your legs slightly drawn up.The treatment should preferably not be carried out during menstruation or should be completed before it begins.
Open the tube and screw the disposable applicator onto the tube.Fill the disposable applicator by gently squeezing the tube until the plunger is fully pushed out.Unscrew the disposable applicator from the tube and insert it as deep into the vagina as possible.Empty the applicator by pressing the plunger and remove it after use.Throw away the disposable applicator after use.A new disposable applicator must be used for each application and thrown away after use.Applicators that show obvious damage should not be used.
Patient information
Please consult your doctor if the disease occurs for the first time or if you have had more than four such fungal infections in the past 12 months. If you have fever, abdominal pain, back pain, bad-smelling vaginal discharge, nausea, vaginal bleeding and/or shoulder pain, you should consult a doctor.
If there is a simultaneous infection of the labia and adjacent areas, local treatment with a cream containing clotrimazole for external treatment is indicated in addition to intravaginal treatment. The partner should also undergo local treatment if symptoms such as itching and inflammation are present.
Tampons, douches, spermicides or other vaginal products should not be used during treatment. It is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse in case of vaginal infections and while this product is being used, as the partner may become infected.Avoid eye contact.Do not take.
No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
You can use clotrimazole during pregnancy, but only as directed by a doctor. During pregnancy, treatment should either be carried out with the vaginal cream by the doctor or with vaginal tablets without an applicator.Out of caution, clotrimazole should not be used in early pregnancy (1st to 3rd month).
If you are breastfeeding, you can use clotrimazole as directed by your doctor. There are no studies on the influence of clotrimazole on fertility in humans.
Notes
Clotrimazole is a proven active ingredient for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes. The growth and reproduction of the fungi are inhibited, the inflammation subsides and the vaginal flora can recover.
If there is a simultaneous infection of the labia and adjacent areas or if there is a doctor-diagnosed inflammation of the partner's glans and foreskin due to fungi and to avoid reinfection, additional local treatment should be carried out using the dosage forms intended for this purpose.
If the external signs of the disease (e.g. discharge, itching) have not completely subsided after the end of the three-day treatment, further treatment may only be carried out after consultation with the treating doctor.
Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
