Permethrin-biomo solution 0.5% - Against head lice
Permethrin-biomo solution 0.5% is an anti-parasitic agent for a one-time external treatment of the scalp hair in the event of an infestation with head lice (Pediculus capitis). The active ingredient permethrin belongs to the group of active ingredients called pyrethrins, which are found in flowers of certain plants, such as some types of chrysanthemums.
Area of application
The preparation is intended for a one-time external treatment of the scalp hair in the event of a head lice infestation. The active ingredient permethrin belongs to the group of pyrethrins, which occur naturally in certain plants, such as chrysanthemums.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
The active ingredient is permethrin.100 ml (86.0 g) contains 430.0 mg permethrin 25/75 (cis/trans).The other ingredients are ethanol 96%, 2-propanol, purified water, propylene glycol and sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate. This medicine contains approximately 39% ethanol (alcohol) by volume.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to permethrin, other pyrethrin-based products, chrysanthemums or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. It must also not be used on newborns and infants under 2 months of age.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist. For treatment, the hair must be thoroughly soaked in the solution. The amount required depends on the thickness of the hair: For short hair, around 25 ml is sufficient, for longer hair around 50 ml is required, and for very long and thick hair, even more.
Children up to 3 years: Do not use more than 25 ml in children after the age of 2 months until the age of 3 years.
Duration of application: If these instructions for use are adhered to, treatment success is usually achieved with just a single application. If live lice are found after 7 - 10 days of treatment with the solution, treatment with the preparation should be repeated. If live lice are still found after 14 - 20 days, the treating doctor should be consulted to examine suitable alternative treatment methods.Do not continue to use the solution without medical advice. In persistent epidemics, it is often necessary to treat all members of a community at the same time, even if not all members have symptoms.
If you have used a larger amount than you should: When used externally, there is no need to worry about overdose symptoms caused by the active ingredient permethrin. The preparation is not suitable for whole-body use, otherwise symptoms of poisoning due to the excipient 2-propanol (isopropanol) may occur, especially in small children. After accidental or intentional ingestion, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible to decide what to do next.
If you stop using the product: As a rule, a single application of the product is sufficient. However, if your doctor has recommended that you repeat the application, please follow his or her instructions.Otherwise, your condition may not heal completely.
If you have any further questions about using this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Intake
The solution is only intended for external use on the hairy scalp and hair. Before using the solution, the hair is washed and toweled. The product is massaged evenly into hair that is still slightly damp.Work from the outside in and make sure that the hair near the scalp is particularly well wetted with the solution, as this is where most lice and nits are found.Long and particularly thick hair should be separated and treated in strands.
Only use the solution undiluted and not with shampoo, soap or other care products.Leave the solution to work on uncovered hair for 30 - 45 minutes;then wash it out with clean, warm water.
Before drying the hair, any resistant lice eggs (nits) stuck to the hair should be combed out. This requires the use of a special lice comb.To ensure full effectiveness, the hair must not be washed with hair wash (shampoo) for at least the first three days after using the product (rinsing with water is permitted). As a result, the active ingredient remains on the hair and kills any lice that hatch from the eggs even after treatment, or the nit contents are severely damaged.
Checks to see whether the treatment has been successful should be carried out with a lice comb as often as possible, preferably on the day after the treatment and around 4 - 5, 8 - 10 and 14 - 16 days after using the preparation.Head and body lice are easily transmitted from person to person, so checking all contact persons in the family area and in kindergarten/school is strongly recommended.
