The combination with vitamin D3 increases the absorption of calcium in the intestine and lowers the level of parathyroid hormone.Low vitamin D3 serum levels can occur especially in winter and in old age.

Calcium D3 STADA® 1000 mg/880 IU contains the active ingredients calcium carbonate and cholecalciferol.One effervescent tablet contains 2500 mg calcium carbonate, equivalent to 1000 mg calcium, and 22 μg cholecalciferol, equivalent to 880 IU vitamin D3.

The other ingredients are: citric acid, gelatin, lactose monohydrate, macrogol 6000, corn starch, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, orange juice flavor, povidone K 25, saccharin sodium, simeticone emulsion (consisting of: dimeticone, methylcellulose, highly disperse silicon dioxide), hydrogenated soybean oil, sucrose,all-rac-alpha-tocopherol.

Calcium D3 STADA® is available in packs of 120 effervescent tablets.The effervescent tablets are white to almost white, round and flat with a typical orange smell.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use of Calcium D3 STADA® 1000 mg/880 IU: It is recommended to take one effervescent tablet once a day with a meal.The effervescent tablet is taken dissolved in a glass of water.The duration of intake depends on the doctor's instructions.

Intake

The effervescent tablet is dissolved in 1 glass of water (approx. 200 ml) and then taken immediately.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.The medicine should only be used with ongoing monitoring of calcium and phosphate concentrations in the blood and urine, especially if there is impaired kidney function or low phosphate concentrations in the blood.Also ask your doctor for advice if you have a family history of calcium-containing kidney stones.

Taking the preparation increases the excretion of calcium in the urine.In the first few months after starting to take the medication, this increases the tendency for calcium salts to precipitate and, under certain circumstances, for stones to form in the kidneys and urinary bladder.This can be avoided by drinking plenty of fluids.

Since the medicine already contains vitamin D, additional use of vitamin D or calcium may only be carried out under strict medical supervision.Before taking it, the amount of calcium, vitamin D and alkali already taken from other sources must be taken into account.

There are no special requirements regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The medicine should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the high dosage of vitamin D.

Overdoses of vitamin D must be avoided during pregnancy, as a long-term increase in calcium levels in the blood can lead to physical and mental development delays, special forms of aortic narrowing and retinal diseases in the child.Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk.
