Nystatin acis® paste

A sore bottom or rash occurs in many children in diapers.Friction or waterlogging causes the sensitive skin to become irritated and inflamed, which is known as diaper rash.An inflamed skin surface combined with the warm, moist environment of a diaper can lead to a fungal infection in the buttocks and genital areas, not only in babies but also in incontinent adults.The irritated skin is susceptible to germs that are excreted in urine or stool and can cause diaper candidiasis.

Diaper rash shows typical signs such as sharply defined redness, damage to the top layer of skin as well as weeping, burning and itching.The first symptoms of diaper candidiasis are isolated pustules that confluence and form blurred plaques with weeping erosions, accompanied by itching and burning.“Satellite papules” are characteristic, which are scattered around the reddened skin and have redness with ring-shaped scale ruffs.

Different therapy options are available for treatment.Pastes are particularly suitable because they have a high solids content and often contain zinc oxide particles, which offer good adhesion.However, the spreadability is lower than with cream or ointment.Nystatin acis® Paste is suitable for use in skin infections with nystatin-sensitive yeasts such as diaper rash.

Mode of action

Nystatin acis® Paste has a specific fungicidal or fungistatic effect against Candida albicans infections and related yeast species.Thanks to the zinc oxide particles, the paste has good adhesion, which is particularly good for use in the diaper area.

Ingredients of Nystatin acis® Paste: 1 g paste contains 100,000 IU nystatin.The other ingredients are thick paraffin, zinc oxide, polyethylene, white petroleum jelly and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Area of application

Nystatin acis® Paste is a remedy for skin infections with nystatin-sensitive yeast fungi, such as:B. with diaper rash.The skin in the buttocks and genital area may be red and softened.Open spots, pimples and pustules that itch or burn can also be symptoms of diaper rash.As it progresses, the inflammation can spread to the inner thighs and stomach.If there is an infection with fungi (Candida spp.) in the diaper area, it is called diaper candidiasis or diaper thrush.

Dosage

Recommended use of Nystatin acis® Paste: Apply thinly to the affected skin areas 2 - 4 times a day.The treatment should be continued for a few days after complete healing, but not longer than 3 weeks.

Patient information

Particular care is required when using it.When used in the genital or anal area, the oils and fats contained as excipients can lead to a reduction in the tear resistance and thus to an impairment of the safety of latex condoms.There is no experience with regard to impairment of the ability to drive or use machines.

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not store above 25°C.After opening the tube for the first time, Nystatin acis® Paste has a shelf life of 12 months.No prescription is required for this product.

Application
