A sore bottom or rash occurs in many children in diapers.Friction or waterlogging causes sensitive skin to become irritated and inflamed.This inflammation is called diaper rash.An inflamed skin surface combined with the warm, moist environment of a diaper can lead to a fungal infection in the buttocks and genital area.This fungal infection, also called diaper candidiasis or diaper thrush, can occur not only in babies but also in incontinent adults.Irritated or damaged skin is susceptible to germs that are excreted in urine or stool and can settle on the sore skin areas.

Diaper rash shows typical signs such as sharply defined redness, damage to the top layer of skin as well as weeping, burning and itching.The first symptoms of diaper candidiasis are isolated pustules that confluence and form blurred plaques with weeping erosions.These are associated with itching and burning.A characteristic identifying feature is “satellite papules,” which are scattered around the skin and have redness with ring-shaped scale ruffs.

Nystatin acis® paste is suitable for treating skin infections with nystatin-sensitive yeast fungi, such as diaper rash.This paste has a fungistatic and fungicidal effect against Candida albicans infections and related yeast species.Thanks to the zinc oxide particles, the paste has good adhesion, which is particularly advantageous in the diaper area.Although the spreadability is lower than with cream or ointment, the paste adheres very well and for a long time to the skin.

Area of application

Nystatin acis® Paste is a remedy for skin infections with nystatin-sensitive yeast fungi, such as diaper rash.The skin in the buttocks and genital area may be red and softened.Open spots, pimples and pustules that itch or burn can also be symptoms of diaper rash.As it progresses, the inflammation can spread to the inner thighs and stomach.If there is an infection with fungi (Candida spp.) in the diaper area, it is called diaper candidiasis or diaper thrush.

Mode of action

Nystatin acis® Paste has a specific fungicidal or fungistatic effect against Candida albicans infections and related yeast species.Thanks to the zinc oxide particles, the paste has good adhesion, which is particularly good for use in the diaper area.

Ingredients of Nystatin acis® Paste: 1 g paste contains 100,000 IU nystatin.The other ingredients are thick paraffin, zinc oxide, polyethylene, white petroleum jelly and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or one of the excipients mentioned, Nystatin acis® Paste should not be used.

Dosage

Nystatin acis® Paste should be applied thinly to the affected skin areas 2 to 4 times a day.Treatment should continue for a few days after complete healing, but not longer than 3 weeks.

Intake

The paste is intended for use on the skin.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using them in the genital or anal area, as the oils and fats they contain can reduce the tear resistance of latex condoms.There is no experience with regard to impairment of the ability to drive or use machines.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, you should ask your doctor or pharmacy before use.

Notes

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not store above 25°C.After opening the tube for the first time, Nystatin acis® Paste has a shelf life of 12 months.No prescription is required for this product.

Application

Apply Nystatin acis® Paste thinly to the affected skin areas 2 to 4 times a day.The symptoms usually subside after just a few days.To ensure complete therapeutic success, treatment should be continued for a few days after complete healing.The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks.
