Aspecton cough drops are a herbal medicinal product for the treatment of colds of the respiratory tract. They are used to relieve the symptoms of colds with viscous mucus and acute bronchitis. Before taking Aspecton Cough Drops, people who are allergic to thyme or other lamiaceae (labiates), birch, mugwort, celery, menthol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine should not take this. The use of Aspecton cough drops is not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding, as there are not yet sufficient studies available. Children under 2 years of age should also not take the medicine. The recommended dosage varies according to age. For adults and adolescents aged 12 and over, the recommended dosage is 31-61 drops, 3-4 times a day. The drops can be taken undiluted or in water. Possible side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. Hypersensitivity reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rashes, hives and swelling of the face, mouth and/or throat are also possible. Aspecton cough drops contain the active ingredient thyme herb thick extract and glycerol, propylene glycol, star anise oil, eucalyptus oil and levomenthol as excipients. It is recommended to keep the medicine away from children and not to use it after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging. Do not use Aspecton cough drops if you have liver or kidney disease, unless your doctor has advised you to. If side effects occur, the medicine should be stopped and a doctor consulted. Side effects can also be reported to the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. The dosage and instructions for use as well as the contraindications and composition should be adjusted by the doctor or pharmacist depending on the individual situation.
