Directions for use of the article Ampuwa solution for injection/infusion Important information: - Ampuwa is a solvent for the preparation of parenterals. - It is used as a solvent for dissolving and diluting medicinal products for injection or infusion. - Read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist for risks and side effects. Composition: - Contains 1000 ml of water for injection. - Other ingredients: None. Dosage forms and contents: - Various containers including glass ampoules, polyethylene ampoules, glass injection bottles, glass infusion bottles, glass vials, polyethylene bags and polypropylene bottles of various sizes. Indications for use: - Water for injection is used as a solvent for dissolving and diluting medicinal products for injection or infusion. Contraindications: - Observe the contraindications of the added medicinal product. Precautions and warnings: - Water for injection is hypotonic and must not be used intravenously without addition. - It should not be administered intravenously until it has been brought to an approximately isotonic state. - When administering large volumes, the ion balance should be checked regularly. Interactions with other medicinal products and other interactions: - None known. Dosage instructions, method and duration of use: - The solution is used for diluting and administering therapeutic medicinal products. - The volume and route of administration are specified in the product information of the added medicinal product. - Use only clear and colourless solutions. Overdose: - Haemolysis may occur after infusion of large volumes of hypotonic solutions. - In case of accidental overdose, treatment should be discontinued. Side effects: - Intravenous use of water for injection without additives may cause haemolysis. Notes and information on shelf life: - Do not use Ampuwa after the expiry date on the label. - Use only when the solution is clear and the container is undamaged.
