Tantum Verde® 1.5 mg/ml spray for use in the oral cavity

Tantum Verde® 1.5 mg/ml oral spray is an anti-inflammatory agent used for the symptomatic treatment of pain and irritation in the mouth and throat.It is available without a prescription and is suitable for adults and children aged 2 and over.

Areas of application

Tantum Verde® is used for various complaints in the mouth and throat, including sore throat caused by a viral cold, slight scratching and burning in the throat, irritation in the oral cavity caused by hot foods, drinks or hard food ingredients, difficulty swallowing, inflammation of the mucous membranes with painful blisters (stomatitis aphthosa), inflammation of the gums, periodontitis and oral mucositis (inflammation in the mouth).

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Tantum Verde® is benzydamine hydrochloride.1 ml of the solution contains 1.5 mg of benzydamine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.) (E 218), ethanol 96%, glycerol (E 422), sodium bicarbonate, polysorbate 20 (E 432), saccharin, purified water and mint flavor (contains, among other things, menthol).

Mode of action

Benzydamine hydrochloride has local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory and mild bactericidal and fungicidal properties.It inhibits the pain reaction of the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat and has a local anesthetic effect.At the same time, it inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, which supports the regression of edema.As benzydamine hydrochloride, the drug also counteracts the growth of bacteria and fungi.

Application

Tantum Verde® is generally used 2-6 times daily.The dosage is 4 - 8 sprays for adults and adolescents over 12 years, 4 sprays for children between 6 and 12 years and 1 spray per 4 kg of body weight, a maximum of 4 sprays for children between 2 and 6 years.The solution is sprayed directly onto the affected area in the mouth or throat.

Contraindications

Tantum Verde® must not be used if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you are infants and young children under 2 years of age (due to the menthol content).

Notes

Tantum Verde® contains 10% alcohol by volume.If you don't feel better or feel worse after 3 days, contact your doctor or dentist.The medicine does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Ingredients

Tantum Verde® contains 13.6 mg alcohol (ethanol) per spray, corresponding to 80 mg/ml (10.1 vol.%).It contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, polysorbate and mint flavor with menthol, benzyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, eugenol, geraniol, isoeugenol, D-limonene, linalool and cinnamic alcohol.
