Gingobeta 40 mg film-coated tablets are a herbal medicinal product for improving age-related cognitive impairment and quality of life in mild dementia. The film-coated tablets contain a dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves. They should always be taken after consulting a doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dose for adults and elderly patients is 3 film-coated tablets twice daily. The tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid and taken independently of meals. The treatment should last at least 8 weeks. No data are available on dosage in children and adolescents or in persons with impaired kidney or liver function. Pregnant women should not take the medicine and in case of intolerance to certain sugars, a doctor should be consulted before taking the medicine. Possible side effects include headache, dizziness, diarrhoea, lower abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. The medicine should be stored away from heat.
