Ginkgo-Maren® 240 mg film-coated tablets are a herbal medicine that is used to improve age-related cognitive impairment and quality of life in mild dementia.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

The active ingredient in Ginkgo-Maren® 240 mg film-coated tablets is a dry extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves.This extract promotes blood circulation and thereby strengthens important brain functions.This means your memory stays fit and resilient for longer.The ability to concentrate and the ability to think are also positively influenced.

1 Film-coated tablet contains 240 mg dry extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves (35-67:1).The extractant is acetone 60% (m/m).The extract is quantified to contain 52.8-64.8 mg of flavonoids, calculated as flavonoid glycosides, as well as 12.0-16.8 mg of terpene lactones, of which 6.72-8.16 mg of ginkgolides A, B and C and 6.24-7.68 mg of bilobalide.The extract contains less than 1.2 µg ginkgolic acid per film-coated tablet.

Other ingredients are spray-dried glucose syrup, highly disperse, hydrophobic silicon dioxide, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, citric acid, talc, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich], basic butyl methacrylate copolymer (Ph. Eur.), sodium dodecyl sulfate, stearic acid (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich],Saccharin sodium, vanillin, iron (III) hydroxide oxide (E 172) and hydrogenated castor oil.

Contraindications

Ginkgo-Maren® 240 mg film-coated tablets should not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the recommended dose for adults is 1 film-coated tablet once a day.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are intended to be taken orally.Please take the film-coated tablets whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.Film-coated tablets should not be taken while lying down.The film-coated tablet has a break line and can be divided into two equal halves to make it easier to take.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking it.There are no sufficient studies on the use of this medicine in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.It should therefore not be used in this age group.

In the case of a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding or simultaneous treatment with anticoagulant medicines, this medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.Since there is evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine should be discontinued before surgery as a precaution.Please inform your doctor in good time if you have taken this medicine so that he or she can decide how to proceed.

If you have a known seizure disorder (epilepsy), please consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Pregnancy

Since there is evidence that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the risk of bleeding, this medicine must not be taken during pregnancy.

This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies.It is not known whether the ingredients of the extract pass into breast milk.

Notes

Contains lactose and glucose.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
