Ginkgo-Maren 240 mg film-coated tablets contain the active substance ginkgo biloba leaf dry extract. They are used to improve age-related cognitive impairment and quality of life in mild dementia. The recommended dosage for adults is one film-coated tablet once a day. The film-coated tablet should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid. It can be taken independently of meals. Persons under 18 years of age should not use these film-coated tablets. There are insufficient data for specific dosage recommendations in the case of impaired kidney or liver function. The duration of treatment should be at least 8 weeks and after 3 months the doctor should check whether continuation of treatment is still justified. The medicinal product should be kept away from heat and inaccessible to children. Ginkgo-Maren 240 mg Film-Coated Tablets should not be used in the case of known allergies to the ingredients of the medicinal product or in the case of increased bleeding tendency or epilepsy. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal complaints, headaches and allergic skin reactions may occur. The medicinal product must not be used during pregnancy and use is not recommended during breast-feeding. Side effects may include headache, dizziness, diarrhoea, lower abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. If any side effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be contacted. The package leaflet should be read before using the medicinal product. The medicinal product contains lactose and glucose. It should be used with caution if there is an allergy to the sweetener saccharin (E number E 954) or an intolerance to glucose or lactose. In case of possible interactions with other medicines, the doctor or pharmacist should be informed before the use of any other medicine.
