Area of application

Pollicrom eye drops 20 mg/ml with the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate are used for allergy-related, acute and chronic conjunctivitis (conjunctivitis), e.g. hay fever conjunctivitis or spring catarrh.

Mode of action

The active ingredient in Pollicrom 20 mg/ml eye drops protects against an allergic reaction in the mucous membranes by stabilizing the outer shell of certain cells, so-called mast cells.If foreign substances such as pollen or animal dander penetrate the body and accumulate on the shell of a mast cell, it opens and a variety of the body's own messenger substances emerge.These messenger substances activate the body's own defense mechanisms and as a result the affected mucous membranes become inflamed.Cromoglicic acid prevents this leakage.However, the effect can only be used as a preventive measure; an acute attack cannot be treated with the substance.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use of Pollicrom 20 mg/ml eye drops: Children and adults 1 drop 4 times daily throughout the day.Instill the medicine into the conjunctival sac of each eye.To use, tilt your head back.After instillation, slowly close your eye and lightly press the tear duct between your nose and inner eyelid with your finger.In general, contact lenses should not be worn if you have allergic conjunctivitis.If your ophthalmologist allows you to wear contact lenses in exceptional cases, you should remove them before using the medicine and only put them back in about 15 minutes after instillation.The duration of use is not limited. Once you have been relieved of symptoms, the period of use should be continued at least as long as you are exposed to the allergens (pollen, house dust, mold spores, etc.).There are no known symptoms of overdose.If in doubt, contact your doctor.Continue the application as normal (i.e. not with double the amount) at the next prescribed time.Pay attention to careful dosage, especially for infants, small children and older people.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacy about any effects or precautionary measures.The dosage prescribed by the doctor may differ from the information in the package insert.Since the doctor adjusts it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

Intake

Tilt your head back slightly and use your free hand to gently pull your lower eyelid away from your eye.After application, slowly close your eyes so that the liquid can spread evenly over the surface of the eye.After use, carefully close the dropper tip with the cap immediately.Please make sure the dropper tip is dry.When dripping, avoid contact of the dropper tip with your eyes or facial skin.

How often should Pollicrom® eye drops be used? Pollicrom® eye drops with the active ingredient cromoglicic acid are suitable as basic protection for eye allergy symptoms.Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, 1 drop is dripped into the lower eyelid of the affected eye 4 times a day.If necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 1 drop 6 times a day.In order to prevent severe symptoms from developing, the medical product should be used a few days before the first expected allergy symptoms.Please note that a bottle of Pollicrom® eye drops - as with all other eye drop preparations - may only be used on the same person in order to avoid the transmission of pathogenic germs.
