Areas of application

Voltaren pain patches with the active ingredient diclofenac sodium are suitable for adults and teenagers aged 16 and over.It is used for the local and symptomatic short-term treatment of pain from acute strains, sprains or bruises on the arms and legs.These injuries can be caused, for example, by sports injuries or blunt trauma.The maximum duration of use is seven days.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each Voltaren pain patch contains 140 mg of diclofenac sodium.In addition, it contains the following excipients: polyester, basic butyl methacrylate copolymer, poly[acrylsäure-co-(2-ethylhexyl)acrylat-co-methylacrylat] (65:27:7), crosslinked with aluminum acetylacetonate, polyoxyethylene monostearate and sorbitan oleate.

Mode of action

The active ingredient diclofenac has a pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing effect.It blocks the formation of prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of pain, fever and inflammation.The active ingredient penetrates deep into the tissue and fights the inflammation directly at the painful area.

Application

Stick the patch on the affected area or painful joint.Change the patch after approximately 12 hours.It is recommended to apply the patch morning and evening.The maximum daily dose is two patches containing active ingredients.If symptoms last longer than seven days, you should see a doctor.Remove the patch if you notice a skin rash or other side effects.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients.If you have certain previous illnesses such as ulcers in the digestive tract, inflammatory bowel disease, blood clotting disorders, heart failure, impaired kidney or liver function, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.Children under 16 years of age are not allowed to use the medicine.Elderly patients should use the medicine with particular caution.

Side effects

Possible side effects include skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching, burning, redness or rash.Inflammatory skin reactions, contact dermatitis or eczema may also occur.If you feel unwell or change during treatment, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.
