Instructions for use of Enterosgel

Enterosgel is a gastrointestinal adsorbent that is used to treat acute and chronic diarrhea in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).It is a peroral suspension that has a symptomatic effect on diarrheal diseases.

Mechanism of action

Enterosgel is a peroral intestinal adsorbent based on organic minerals.It binds toxic and harmful substances in the intestine, such as endotoxins and enterotoxins, to its surface, thereby reducing the frequency of bowel movements and the duration of diarrhea.The adsorbed toxins and pollutants are excreted in the stool, which has a beneficial effect in the treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in IBS.

Contraindications

Preventative precautions

Enterosgel can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.It is advisable to discuss this with your doctor if you are not feeling well during pregnancy or breastfeeding.Enterosgel should be taken two hours before or after taking other oral medications.If diarrhea persists for a long time, a doctor should be consulted to diagnose the underlying condition.Drinking plenty of fluids is important during treatment to avoid dehydration.

Intake and dosage

Enterosgel is taken 2 hours before or after eating or taking other oral medications.The recommended duration of intake is 3-5 days for acute diarrhea and up to 21 days for chronic diarrhea.The dose should be diluted with water.Children aged 1-6 years receive 5 g, children aged 7-14 years receive 10 g and adults and children aged 15 and over receive 15-22.5 g, each 3 times a day.On the first day, the first dose can be doubled and continued after each bowel movement, but not more than 8 doses on the first day.

Side effects

Possible side effects include constipation and nausea.

Storage

Enterosgel should be stored at temperatures of 4°C to 30°C, protected from frost and not exposed to excessive heat or direct sunlight.It must not be used after the expiry date and should be kept out of the reach of children.

Disposal

Enterosgel can be disposed of with household waste without any special measures.The packaging is recyclable.

Composition

Enterosgel consists of polymethylsiloxane polyhydrate (polymethylsiloxane hydrogel) at 70% and purified water at 30 %.
