Mometasone beta hay fever spray is a nasal spray containing the active substance mometasone furoate. It is used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in adults, provided it has been diagnosed by a doctor. Hay fever occurs at certain times of the year and is caused by breathing in pollen from trees, grasses and mould and fungus spores. Mometasone beta hay fever spray works by reducing swelling and irritation in the nose, relieving sneezing, itching and a blocked or runny nose. The recommended dose is two sprays into each nostril once a day. Some patients experience relief of symptoms within 12 hours of the first application. However, the full benefit of the treatment may not be felt until after the first two days. If needed, the dose can be reduced to one spray per day. The nasal spray should be prepared before first use by pressing it several times until a fine spray is produced. If the nasal spray has not been used for 14 days, it should be prepared again. One bottle of Mometasone beta hay fever spray is sufficient for 15 days (60 sprays) or 35 days (140 sprays) with a daily use of two sprays per nostril. The nasal spray should be cleaned thoroughly with a clean tissue after use. If you have severe hay fever, your doctor may recommend taking mometasone furoate before the expected start of the pollen season. Mometasone beta hay fever spray can cause side effects such as nosebleeds, irritation of the nose and throat, burning of the mucous membranes, ulcers of the nasal mucosa, pharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infections and headaches. The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients, in respiratory tract infections, nasal injuries, nasal surgery, herpes infections of the eye and adrenal cortical diseases. It must also not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age. The duration of use should be determined in consultation with a doctor. An overdose may lead to increased susceptibility to infections or adrenal cortical disorders. If you forget to use it, continue it at the next prescribed time. Do not stop treatment unless advised to do so by your doctor. The nasal spray should be protected from children and stored at temperatures below 25 °C. It has a shelf life of 2 months after the first opening. Do not dispose of the medicine in the waste water and ask your pharmacy for information on correct disposal.
