Ingredients and composition

Our vegan Omega-3 capsules contain high-quality algae oil obtained from the microalgae Schizochytrium.This makes them a valuable and vegan source of the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA.These capsules are a high-quality alternative to fish oil and contain no animal ingredients, neither fish oil nor gelatin as a capsule shell.The capsules have been awarded the V label “vegan”.

One capsule contains 450 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, of which 250 mg DHA and 125 mg EPA.This corresponds to an optimal ratio of DHA to EPA of 2:1.The recommended daily dose is one capsule.

Mode of action of DHA and EPA

The omega-3 fatty acid DHA is of great importance for the structure and function of cell membranes.Particularly high concentrations of DHA are found in the brain and retina of the eye. DHA is essential for healthy functioning of the nervous system and eyes.The body also produces anti-inflammatory substances from DHA.

The body can produce EPA from alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and DHA from EPA . ALA is found in large quantities in linseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts and rapeseed oil, among others.However, the conversion of ALA into EPA and further into DHA in the body is not very efficient.With a direct supply of DHA and EPA , the levels of the two omega-3 fatty acids in the blood can be reliably and significantly increased.
