Vagiflor® mykomed 200 mg vaginal tablets with clotrimazole

The Vagiflor® mykomed 200 mg vaginal tablets are a non-prescription antifungal for the treatment of vaginal thrush.They contain an applicator for inserting the tablet into the vagina and contain three tablets, one for each day of therapy.

Area of application

This medicine is intended to treat vaginal yeast infections.The active ingredient clotrimazole inhibits the growth and reproduction of fungal cells, such as budding fungi (yeasts) and other types of fungi as well as certain bacteria.It is used for discharge caused by fungi (mostly Candida), inflammation of the vagina caused by fungi and superinfections with bacteria sensitive to clotrimazole.

Each vaginal tablet contains 200 mg clotrimazole as the active ingredient.The excipients include adipic acid, lactose 1-water, magnesium stearate, corn starch, sodium bicarbonate, polysorbate 80, colloidal silicon dioxide and stearic acid.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is one vaginal tablet, inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina, once daily in the evening for three consecutive days.

Three days of treatment is usually enough to clear a fungal infection.If necessary, a second treatment cycle can be added.The symptoms of vaginal inflammation, such as itching, discharge and burning, usually subside significantly within the first four days after starting treatment.If there is no significant improvement after four days, please contact your doctor.

If you forget to use it in the evening, you can do so the following morning.In order to achieve complete healing of the infection and prevent a relapse, you should not stop or interrupt treatment prematurely.The treatment should not be stopped after the symptoms have subsided, but should be continued consistently for three days.

Intake

The vaginal tablets are applied deep into the vagina using the applicator, preferably in the evening before going to bed, while lying on your back with your legs slightly drawn up.If treatment is necessary during pregnancy on the doctor's instructions, it should be carried out without an applicator.Wash your hands thoroughly before inserting the vaginal tablets into the vagina.

The treatment should preferably not be carried out during menstruation or should be completed before it begins.If the vagina is dry, the vaginal tablet may not dissolve completely.In this case, treatment should be carried out with vaginal cream.

To insert the vaginal tablet with the applicator: Pull the plunger of the applicator out as far as it will go, remove the vaginal tablet from the blister pack and push it into the applicator.Lie on your back and carefully insert the applicator as deep into the vagina as possible.Pressing the plunger releases the vaginal tablet.The applicator is intended for multiple use and must be carefully cleaned under warm (not boiling) running water after each use.

To insert the vaginal tablet without an applicator: Use a clean finger to carefully insert the vaginal tablet as deeply as possible into the vagina.

Patient information

If you have fever, abdominal pain, back pain, bad-smelling vaginal discharge, nausea, vaginal bleeding and/or shoulder pain, you should consult a doctor.Please consult your doctor if the disease occurs for the first time or if you have had more than 4 such fungal infections in the past 12 months.

If there is a simultaneous infection of the labia and adjacent areas, local treatment with a cream containing clotrimazole for external treatment is indicated in addition to intravaginal treatment.The partner should also undergo local treatment if symptoms such as itching and inflammation are present.

Tampons, douches, spermicides or other vaginal products should not be used during treatment.It is recommended to avoid sexual intercourse in case of vaginal infections and while this product is being used, as the partner may become infected.

Clotrimazole has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.You can use clotrimazole during pregnancy, but only as directed by a doctor.During pregnancy, treatment should be carried out with a vaginal cream by the doctor or with vaginal tablets without an applicator.If you are breastfeeding, you can use clotrimazole as directed by your doctor.

Application

Insert the vaginal tablet into the vagina using the applicator once a day, in the evening, for 3 consecutive days.Pull the applicator stick out of the applicator tube until it stops.Place the tablet into the wide end of the applicator and insert the applicator as deep into the vagina as possible (best done while lying down).Now carefully press the applicator stick into the tube until it stops;this is how the tablet is placed in the vagina.Then remove the applicator.To allow the tablet to dissolve completely, it is recommended that you remain lying down for another 15 minutes.

It is important that you clean the applicator thoroughly before each use.To clean after using the applicator, rinse thoroughly with warm (not boiling) water;To do this, pull the applicator stick completely out of the tube.

Your doctor will decide whether additional treatment with an antifungal cream is necessary.This is applied externally.

Particular attention should be paid to hygiene during the treatment period.

It is advisable to consult a gynecologist before treatment.This is especially true if the symptoms, such as itching and white, crumbly discharge, are occurring for the first time or are accompanied by other symptoms such as fever.The symptoms can easily be confused with those of other intimate problems, such as bacterial vaginosis.However, this requires a completely different therapy.There are also different types of fungi that can trigger vaginal mycosis.The treatment sometimes needs to be adjusted accordingly.You should also consult a doctor if a vaginal yeast infection occurs during pregnancy, or if you continue to suffer from the symptoms or if they have not improved at least four days after starting treatment.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
