Vomex A® sustained-release capsules

Vomex A® sustained-release capsules are a proven remedy for nausea and vomiting that belongs to the group of H1 antihistamines.The product is available without a prescription.It is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting of various origins, especially motion sickness.It is suitable for young people aged 14 and over and adults with a body weight of over 56 kg.

The sustained-release form of Vomex A® sustained-release capsules ensures that the active ingredient dimenhydrinate is released consistently over a longer period of time.This means that the remedy has a quick and long-lasting effect against nausea and vomiting.The effects begin after just 30 minutes and can last up to six hours.

Dimenhydrinate works directly in the vomiting center of the brain by blocking histamine receptors.This means that signals that trigger nausea and vomiting are not transmitted.The histamine cannot work and the nausea subsides.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each retarded hard capsule of Vomex A® retard capsules contains 150 mg of the active ingredient dimenhydrinate.The product also contains the following other ingredients: sucrose, corn starch, talc, shellac, povidone K30, titanium dioxide, gelatin, quinoline yellow, indigo carmine, erythrosine and patent blue V.

Contraindications

Vomex A® extended-release capsules should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Dosage

Adolescents aged 14 and over and adults with a body weight of over 56 kg should take one sustained-release hard capsule in the morning and evening.This corresponds to a daily dose of 300 mg dimenhydrinate.The specified upper limit of 2 hard capsules per day must not be exceeded.

Intake

The prolonged-release capsules should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid.To prevent motion sickness, take it for the first time approx. 30 to 60 minutes before the start of your journey.To treat nausea and vomiting, it is recommended to be taken morning and evening.There should be an interval of at least 8 hours between two doses.

Patient information

Before taking Vomex A® extended-release capsules, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist if you have Parkinson's disease, impaired liver or kidney function, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases, chronic breathing problems or asthma.In these cases, the sustained-release capsules may only be taken after consulting a doctor.

With prolonged treatment, the development of drug dependence cannot be ruled out.For this reason, the extended-release capsules should only be used briefly if possible.After long-term daily use, sudden stopping of treatment may cause temporary sleep disorders.Therefore, treatment should be stopped by gradually reducing the dose.

Overdoses of dimenhydrinate can be life-threatening, especially in children, and must be avoided.Therefore, the sustained-release capsules must not be used in children and adolescents under 14 years of age or under 56 kg body weight.

Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.This is particularly true after insufficient sleep, when starting treatment and changing medications, and in combination with alcohol.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Dimenhydrinate, the active ingredient in Vomex A® prolonged-release capsules, can trigger premature contractions.The safety of using the drug during pregnancy has not been proven.A risk cannot be excluded for dimenhydrinate based on clinical data.You may only take the preparation after consulting your doctor and only if he or she considers it to be absolutely necessary.

Dimenhydrinate passes into breast milk.The safety of using the product during breastfeeding has not been proven.Since undesirable effects, such as increased restlessness, on the breastfed child cannot be ruled out, you should either not take the extended-release capsules while breastfeeding or stop breastfeeding while you are taking them.

Notes

Vomex A® extended-release capsules contain sucrose (sugar).Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
