Instructions for use for ALLERGODIL Eye drops, 6 ml
Allergodil eye drops
Allergodil eye drops contain the active ingredient azelastine hydrochloride. This belongs to the group of antihistamines that prevent the effects of histamines that are produced during allergic reactions.Azelastine reduces eye inflammation.
Areas of application
Allergodil eye drops can be used to treat and prevent eye problems caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 4 and over. They can also be used to treat eye problems caused by allergies to substances such as house dust mites and animal dander (non-seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 12 and over.Allergodil is not suitable for treating eye infections.
Application
Allergodil eye drops should always be used exactly as directed by your doctor. If you are unsure about use or dosage, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
For the treatment of eye problems caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 4 and over, the usual dose is one drop in each eye morning and evening. If contact with pollen is expected, the dose can be used preventatively.
For the treatment of allergy-related eye problems (non-seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 12 and over, the usual dose is also one drop in each eye morning and evening. If the symptoms are severe, the dose can be increased to one drop in each eye up to four times a day.
Allergodil eye drops should be used regularly until the symptoms disappear.Discontinuing use may cause the symptoms to reoccur.Allergodil should not be used for longer than 6 weeks and should only be instilled into the eyes.
Application instructions
When instilling the eye drops, you should sit in front of a mirror to better control the process.Wash your hands and wipe your eyes lightly to remove moisture.Unscrew the bottle and gently pull down the lower eyelid.Carefully instill the drop into the center of the lower eyelid without letting the dropper touch the eye.Release your lower eyelid and gently press your nose from the inner corner of your eye while slowly blinking several times to disperse the drop.Remove excess eye drops with a tissue and repeat the process for the other eye.
Overdose and forget application
Putting too much Allergodil in the eye is unlikely to cause problems. If accidentally swallowed, you should immediately contact your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency department. If you forget to use it, continue using it at the next prescribed time without doubling the dose.
