Instructions for Use of Anginetten Sugar-Free Throat Lozenges
Anginetten Sugar-Free Throat Lozenges are a throat and pharyngeal therapeutic used as a supportive treatment for inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa.Typical symptoms that can be treated with them are sore throat, redness, or swelling.The active ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride has a disinfectant effect and kills bacteria and viruses.
This product is available without a prescription.
Indications
Anginetten Sugar-Free Throat Lozenges are used as a supportive treatment for inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa.This inflammation is often accompanied by symptoms such as sore throat, redness, or swelling.
Active Ingredients
Each lozenge contains 0.33 mg cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate as the active ingredient.Other ingredients include isomalt, honey flavoring, levomenthol, lemon flavoring, Ponceau 4R, quinoline yellow, patent blue V, and tartaric acid.Isomalt may have a mild laxative effect and contains 2.6 g per lozenge, which is equivalent to approximately 0.13 bread units (BU).
Dosage and Administration
Adults can take one lozenge hourly or two lozenges every two hours.Children six years and older should suck one lozenge every two hours.The maximum daily dose is twelve lozenges.This medicine should not be taken for extended periods without medical advice.
Contraindications
Anginetten sugar-free throat lozenges must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to cetylpyridinium, Ponceau 4R, or any of the other ingredients.Infants and children under six years of age, as well as patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with marked airway hypersensitivity, should not use this product.Cetylpyridinium should not be used in cases of mucosal damage due to the potential for impaired wound healing.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Anginetten sugar-free throat lozenges can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions such as swelling of the skin or mucous membranes, hives, periorbital purpura, dizziness, and a drop in blood pressure with shortness of breath.Delayed wound healing and brownish discoloration of the tongue or tooth necks have also been observed.Ponceau 4R may cause allergic reactions.
Storage
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children and do not store above 25°C.It must not be used after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
