Area of application

Daktar 2% mouth gel is an antifungal medicine for the treatment of fungal diseases of the mucous membrane, especially oral thrush.It is suitable for infants from 4 months, children and adults.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The active ingredient in Daktar 2% oral gel is miconazole with a concentration of 20 mg per gram of gel.The product also contains the following excipients: ethanol, glycerol, pre-gelatinized potato starch, polysorbate 20, saccharin sodium, purified water as well as natural and nature-identical flavorings such as cocoa and orange flavor.

Contraindications

Daktar 2% oral gel must not be used if you or the child being treated are allergic to miconazole, related antifungal medications or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.The gel should also not be used in cases of liver dysfunction or in infants under 4 months of age in whom the swallowing reflex is not yet fully developed.Caution is also advised when taking certain drugs at the same time that are broken down by the enzymes cytochrome P450-3A4 or cytochrome P450-2C9.

Dosage

The recommended dose for infants from 4 months and children up to 2 years is 1/4 measuring spoon of gel (equivalent to 1.25 ml) four times daily.Children aged 2 and over and adults should use 1/2 measuring spoon of gel (equivalent to 2.5 ml) four times daily.Treatment should be continued for at least a week after the symptoms disappear.Overdose may cause vomiting and diarrhea.If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose but continue using it at the next prescribed time.

Intake

The oral gel should be used four times throughout the day after meals.Apply the gel to the oral mucosa with a clean finger and distribute it evenly.For infants and small children, the gel should be applied in small individual portions to the front of the mouth to avoid swallowing into the respiratory tract.The gel should be kept in the mouth for as long as possible and then swallowed.During daily dental care, the braces can also be brushed with the gel.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when the disease occurs for the first time or if fungal infections have occurred several times within the last 12 months.There is a possibility of interactions if other medicines are used at the same time.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Daktar 2% oral gel.The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Daktar 2% oral gel should not be used in the first three months of pregnancy.From the 4th month of pregnancy, the medicine should only be used on the express instructions of the doctor.During breastfeeding, the gel should only be used on the express instructions of your doctor.

Notes

Daktar 2% mouth gel contains 23.47 mg alcohol (ethanol) in 2.5 ml (1/2 measuring spoon), which corresponds to 0.757% by weight.The small amount of alcohol has no noticeable effects.The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per 2.5 ml (1/2 scoop) and is almost "sodium-free".

Side effects

Like all medicines, Daktar 2% oral gel can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.Common side effects include dry mouth, nausea, discomfort in the mouth, vomiting, regurgitation of food, and different taste of the product.Occasionally, taste disturbances may occur.Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions, diarrhea, liver inflammation and other serious reactions may occur.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep Daktar 2% oral gel out of the reach of children and do not store it above 30 °C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and tube.Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use.
