Cowslip tea is a herbal product used to support mucus secretion and to relieve irritation in upper respiratory tract colds.No prescription is required for this product.

Ingredients

The tea consists of cowslip flowers.The main ingredients of cowslip are saponins, which have a similar effect to soap and can reduce the surface tension of liquids.This helps to loosen stuck secretions and make coughing up easier.

Cowslip tea is used for respiratory colds to promote mucus secretion and relieve irritation.

Type of application

The tea is prepared by pouring 1 to 2 teaspoons (2 to 4 grams) of cowslip tea with boiling water (approx. 150 ml).After about 10 minutes, the infusion can be strained through a tea strainer and drunk hot.It is recommended to drink a cup several times a day, especially in the morning and evening.

Dosage

Teenagers aged 12 and over and adults can take 1.3 grams (about 1 teaspoon) of the tea 2 to 3 times daily, regardless of meals.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.The medicine should not be used for longer than 3 days without medical advice.If symptoms persist for a long time, a doctor should be consulted.

Side effects

When used as intended, there are no known side effects.In rare cases, hypersensitivity such as reddening of the skin or blistering may occur when the flowers come into contact with the skin.

Contraindications

The medicine should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, in children under 12 years, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.If used despite contraindications, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Important notes

Caution is advised if you are allergic to primroses, St. John's wort and hawthorn.The medicine must be stored away from moisture and light.
