Hawthorn tea consists of hawthorn leaves with flowers.

Hawthorn tea is used when the heart's performance declines and when there are feelings of pressure and oppression in the heart area.

Type of application

Hawthorn tea is used to drink after making a tea infusion.To do this, pour boiling water (approx. 150 ml) over a teaspoon (1.5 g) of hawthorn tea and, if necessary, strain it through a tea strainer after about 10-15 minutes.Unless otherwise prescribed, a cup of the tea infusion prepared in this way is drunk 3 - 4 times a day.

Mode of action

The ingredients of hawthorn act as a natural mixture.The hawthorn is a shrub-like tree with thorny branches, small, deeply lobed leaves and small white flowers.The ripe fruits are bright red.It occurs in Europe and Asia.The main ingredients are procyanidins and flavonoids such as vitexin and hyperoside.Mainly extracts and tinctures of leaves, flowers and berries are used.The ingredients cause a slight increase in cardiac output by increasing the power of the heart and dilating the blood vessels.They improve blood flow to the heart muscle and coronary arteries.

Important notes

Caution should be exercised if you are allergic to St. John's wort, hawthorn, cinnamon, birch, poplar buds, propolis, valerian, turmeric and rosin.If the symptoms of the disease persist for more than four weeks or if you experience shortness of breath, dizziness, radiating pain to the heart area, arms or upper abdomen or if water accumulates in the legs, you should consult a doctor.
