Suprasorb A calcium alginate compresses are specially designed for the treatment of heavily exuding wounds.The active ingredient calcium alginate, obtained from natural brown algae, is characterized by its high absorption capacity.The compresses are soft and can be easily tamponated, which means they adapt optimally to the wound base.

A special feature of Suprasorb A is its rapid gel formation.The exchange of calcium ions from the wound dressing with the sodium ions in the wound exudate forms a gel that binds the exudate and traps bacteria and tissue debris.When changing the dressing, these substances are removed along with the alginate fiber.

Mode of action

Suprasorb A absorbs excess exudate from the wound and forms a gel through ion exchange.This supports wound healing by keeping the wound moist and creating an optimal microclimate.

Application note

First, the wound should be cleaned according to the usual standard and the area around the wound should be carefully patted dry with sterile wound compresses.Suprasorb A is then placed loosely into the wound.A Suprasorb A tamponade can be loosely inserted into deep or jagged wounds.Depending on the degree of exudation, the dressing is fixed with a suitable secondary dressing, for example with Suprasorb P or Vliwasorb.

Dressing change interval

The dressing change interval is determined by the treating physician depending on the condition of the wound, the degree of exudation and the secondary dressing.The bandage should be changed after 5-7 days at the latest.

Areas of application

Suprasorb A is suitable for heavily exuding wounds, both superficial and deep wounds.It can be used in the exudation and granulation phase, such as pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers and split-thickness skin donor sites.

The compresses are also suitable for infected wounds, where bacteria contained in the exudate are bound in the gel.The wound is kept constantly moist under Suprasorb A, which promotes the development of epithelium and accelerates wound healing.
