Suprasorb A calcium alginate compresses are specially designed for the treatment of heavily exuding wounds.The active ingredient calcium alginate, obtained from natural brown algae, is characterized by its high absorption capacity.The compresses are soft and can be easily tamponated, which means they adapt optimally to the wound base.

A gel is formed by the ion exchange between the calcium ions in the dressing and the sodium ions in the wound exudate.This gel binds the exudate and traps bacteria and tissue debris.When changing the dressing, these substances are removed along with the alginate fiber.No prescription is required for this product.

The compresses offer a high level of comfort thanks to their soft structure and easy handling.They promote wound healing thanks to their high exudate absorption capacity and their good conformability to the wound base.They also bind bacteria and cell debris in the gel.

Mode of action

Suprasorb A calcium alginate compresses absorb excess exudate from the wound.The ion exchange forms a gel that binds the exudate and traps bacteria and tissue debris.

Application note

First, the wound should be cleaned according to the usual standard and the area around the wound should be carefully patted dry with sterile wound compresses.Suprasorb A is then placed loosely into the wound.A Suprasorb A tamponade can be loosely inserted into deep or jagged wounds.Depending on the degree of exudation, the dressing is fixed with a suitable secondary dressing, for example with Suprasorb P or Vliwasorb.

Dressing change interval

The dressing change interval is determined by the treating physician depending on the condition of the wound, the degree of exudation and the secondary dressing.The bandage should be changed after 5-7 days at the latest.

Areas of application

Suprasorb A calcium alginate compresses are suitable for heavily exuding wounds, both superficial and deep wounds.They can be used in the exudation and granulation phase, for example in pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers and split-thickness skin donor sites.
