Instructions for use of Lefax Extra liquid capsules

Lefax Extra liquid capsules are an antifoam agent used for the symptomatic treatment of gas-related gastrointestinal complaints such as flatulence, bloating, belching, functional dyspepsia, cramp-like upper abdominal pain, postoperative gas-related pain and irritable bowel syndrome.They are also used to prepare diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area, such as endoscopy, x-rays and sonography, to reduce gas shadows.

No prescription is required for this product.It is important to read the instructions for use carefully and use the capsules as directed in order to achieve the best possible treatment success.Keep the instructions for use in case you want to read them again later.If your symptoms worsen or do not improve, you should see a doctor.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each soft capsule contains 125 milligrams of the active ingredient Simeticon.The other ingredients are gelatin, glycerol 85% and quinoline yellow (E104).Simeticon only works locally in the gastrointestinal tract and is gentle on the stomach and intestines.It frees the air trapped in the gastrointestinal tract and prevents the formation of new air.

Application and dosage

Lefax Extra liquid capsules should always be taken exactly as directed in the instructions for use.For gas-related gastrointestinal complaints, adolescents aged 14 and over and adults can take 1 to 2 soft capsules 3 times a day.To prepare for imaging examinations, children aged six and over, adolescents and adults should take 2 to 3 soft capsules the day before the examination and 1 soft capsule on the morning of the examination.

The capsules are swallowed whole with enough liquid during or after meals, or before going to bed if necessary.The duration of application depends on the course of the symptoms.Lefax Extra liquid capsules can also be taken over a longer period of time if necessary.

Contraindications and precautions

Lefax Extra liquid capsules must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to Simeticon or any of the other ingredients.There are no concerns about taking it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.For the symptomatic treatment of gas-related gastrointestinal complaints, children under 14 years of age should not take this product.

Interactions with other medicines are not known.Lefax Extra liquid capsules should not be taken immediately after operations in the gastrointestinal area.If you experience new and/or persistent abdominal problems, you should consult a doctor.

Side effects

Side effects associated with the use of Lefax Extra liquid capsules have not been observed to date.The active ingredient Simeticon causes the foam in the gastrointestinal tract to dissolve purely physically and is chemically and biologically completely ineffective.Therefore poisoning is practically impossible.Even large quantities of Lefax Extra liquid capsules are tolerated without any problems.

Storage and shelf life

This product must be kept out of the reach of children.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the outer carton under “Use by”.Lefax Extra liquid capsules should be stored at room temperature and in a dry place.
