Instructions for use of Visc Ophtal Sine eye gel

Visc-Ophtal sine is an eye gel with the active ingredient carbomer.It is used to replace tear fluid in the event of impaired tear production and for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye.The active ingredient carbomer forms a gel structure that holds moisture and releases it slowly, moistening the surface of the eye.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Visc-Ophtal sine is used for dry eyes, especially if tear production is impaired.It is also suitable for nighttime use to optimally moisturize the surface of the eye.

Dosage and application

The dosage should be adjusted individually.Typically, 1 drop is dripped into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day or more often, and about 30 minutes before going to bed.A new single-dose container should be used for each application.The medicine is suitable for long-term or continuous therapy.When using contact lenses, they should be removed before instillation and not reinserted until at least 15 minutes later.

Contraindications

Visc-Ophtal sine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before use, as there are no specific studies available.

Side effects

Possible side effects can include hypersensitivity reactions such as pain, increased tearing, foreign body sensation, conjunctival redness, conjunctival and eyelid swelling, and itching.If you notice any side effects, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

Composition

Active ingredient: carbomer (viscosity 40,000-60,000 mPa s) in a concentration of 2.0 mg/g eye gel.Excipients: sorbitol (Ph.Eur.), sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), water for injection purposes.

Storage

The medicine should not be stored above 25°C and protected from light.Opened single-dose containers must not be stored and must be discarded after use.Store drug out of reach of children.
