Area of application

Vitamin C 1000 film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient ascorbic acid in a dosage of 1000 mg per tablet.This preparation is used to prevent and treat vitamin C deficiency, especially when dietary intake is not sufficiently ensured.A vitamin C deficiency can manifest itself in weakened immune systems, fatigue, increased susceptibility to infections and other symptoms.The film-coated tablets are yellow, elongated and have a score line, which allows for easy division and individual dosage.

Each tablet of Vitamin C 1000 film-coated tablets contains 1000 mg ascorbic acid as the active ingredient.The excipients include microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, corn starch, lactose monohydrate, talc, hypromellose, crospovidone (type A), titanium dioxide (E 171), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172) and vegetable stearic acid (Ph.Eur.).

Contraindications

Vitamin C 1000 film-coated tablets must not be taken if you are allergic to ascorbic acid or any of the other ingredients.Even in the case of kidney stones made from oxalate and certain diseases in which too much iron is stored in the body, the preparation should only be taken after consulting a doctor.Vitamin C should not be used in higher doses if red blood cell glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is present.

Dosage

To prevent vitamin C deficiency, adults are recommended a daily dose of 50-200 mg ascorbic acid, which corresponds to a maximum of half a film-coated tablet every two to three days.When treating vitamin C deficiency diseases, the recommended daily dose is 200-1000 mg ascorbic acid, equivalent to half to a whole film-coated tablet daily, until the symptoms subside.The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Warnings and precautions

When taking high doses of vitamin C, hemolysis may occur in certain patients with erythrocytic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.If you have a tendency to form kidney stones, there is a risk of calcium oxalate stones forming.Patients with recurrent kidney stone formation are advised not to exceed a daily vitamin C intake of 100 to 200 mg.In patients with severe or end-stage renal failure, a daily vitamin C intake of 50 to 100 mg should not be exceeded.

Side effects

Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as difficulty breathing or allergic skin reactions can occur.If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking Vitamin C 1000 and contact your doctor as soon as possible.
