Systral Hydrocort is an emulsion for use on the skin for inflammatory and allergic skin diseases.The active ingredient hydrocortisone is used to relieve very mild skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis).No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Systral Hydrocort is used to relieve very mild, inflammatory or allergic skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis), in which low-concentration, weakly effective, topically applied glucocorticoids are indicated.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The medicinally active ingredient is hydrocortisone.1 g of emulsion contains 2.5 mg hydrocortisone.The other ingredients are phenoxyethanol as a preservative, decyl oleate, cetostearyl alcohol, cetomacrogol 1000, propylene glycol, dimeticone 20, citric acid, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dihydrate and purified water.

Contraindications

Systral Hydrocort must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients of Systral Hydrocort.The product must also not be used in cases of virus-related (e.g. chickenpox) or bacterial skin diseases, fungal diseases, skin reactions after vaccinations, specific skin diseases (e.g. syphilis, skin tuberculosis) as well as certain skin inflammations in the area of the mouth (perioral dermatitis) or face (rosacea) that are accompanied by redness and/or nodules.In addition, Systral Hydrocort must not be used on or in the eye.Children up to the age of 6 may only be treated as prescribed by a doctor.

Dosage and application

Always use Systral Hydrocort exactly according to the instructions in this leaflet.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: Systral Hydrocort is applied thinly to the affected areas once or twice a day.The duration of treatment depends on the success of the therapy and should not last longer than 4 weeks without medical advice.Even after the clinical picture has subsided, Systral Hydrocort should be used for a few more days to avoid a recurrence of the disease.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Systral Hydrocort can cause side effects.The occurrence of side effects depends largely on the condition of the skin, the type and location of application and the duration of use.Local side effects are not to be expected at the current concentration of 0.25%, but cannot be completely ruled out with long-term use, e.g.B. Thinning of the skin (skin atrophy), dilation of the blood vessels (telangiectasia), skin stripes due to damage to the elastic fibers (striae), pustule formation caused by the active ingredient (steroid acne) and increased hair in the treated skin areas (hypertrichosis).Systemic (internal) side effects cannot be ruled out with long-term, large-area use, especially in the case of severely damaged skin.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.You must not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and carton.Do not store above 25°C!Once opened, Systral Hydrocort has a shelf life of 6 months.
