Area of application

Mucosolvan film-coated tablets 60 mg are a medicine that is used to dissolve mucus in respiratory diseases with thick mucus.It is used to treat acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs in which thick mucus is present.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

The active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride in Mucosolvan film-coated tablets 60 mg dissolves stuck mucus in the respiratory tract.This causes the mucus to become thinner and its adhesion to the mucous membranes of the bronchi decreases.This makes coughing up easier and reduces mucus.Applied locally, the active ingredient can also anesthetize mucous membranes and relieve a sore throat.

One film-coated tablet of Mucosolvan film-coated tablets 60 mg contains 60 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are higher-chain partial glycerides, sucrose, talc, hypromellose, highly disperse silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, corn starch and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Mucosolvan film-coated tablets 60 mg must not be used if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients.If the function of the cilia in the respiratory tract is reduced, or if kidney or liver function is impaired, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.Children under 12 years of age should generally not use the medicine.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over usually take half a film-coated tablet 3 times a day (corresponding to 30 mg ambroxol hydrochloride 3 times a day) for the first 2-3 days.The dose is then reduced to half a film-coated tablet twice a day.If necessary, the effectiveness can be increased by taking a whole film-coated tablet twice a day.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are taken whole with sufficient liquid, such as water, tea or fruit juice, with or without meals.If the clinical picture worsens or there is no improvement after 4-5 days, a doctor should be consulted.

Patient information

The duration of use should be decided depending on the cause and course of the disease.An overdose can cause restlessness, vomiting, diarrhea and a drop in blood pressure.If in doubt, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding you should only take medication after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The medicine crosses the placental barrier and passes into breast milk.It should only be used during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and while breastfeeding after carefully weighing the benefits and risks.

Notes

Mucosolvan film-coated tablets 60 mg contain lactose and sucrose.Caution is advised if you are allergic to ambroxol or have intolerance to lactose and sucrose.Sugar content should be taken into account when following a diabetes diet.There may be medicines with which interactions occur.

Storage

The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.It must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.No special storage conditions are required.The medicine should not be disposed of in wastewater.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Other

In the case of severe kidney dysfunction, the maintenance dose should be reduced accordingly or the interval between applications extended.The expectorant effect of the drug is supported by fluid intake.
