Lemon balm leaf tea is a herbal medicine that is used as a sedative and to relieve gastrointestinal complaints.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

This tea is used for nervous-related problems falling asleep and for functional gastrointestinal complaints.The ingredients in lemon balm have a calming and antispasmodic effect, promote digestion and inhibit the growth of viruses.

Composition

The active ingredient in lemon balm leaf tea are lemon balm leaves.100 g of medicinal tea contains 100 g of lemon balm leaves.Other components are not included.Lemon balm is an herbaceous plant with an aromatic scent that occurs in the Mediterranean region and Asia Minor.The main ingredients are essential oil (citronellal) and rosmarinic acid.

Dosage and application

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults can drink 1.5 to 4.5 g (1 to 3 teaspoons) of lemon balm leaf tea several times a day, regardless of meals.To prepare it, pour boiling water (approx. 150 ml) over 1 to 3 teaspoons of lemon balm leaves and let the tea steep for about 10 to 15 minutes before straining it through a tea strainer.The duration of use is not limited, but you should not use the medicine for longer than a week without medical advice if there is no improvement or the symptoms recur regularly.

Contraindications

Lemon balm leaf tea must not be used if you are hypersensitive to lemon balm leaves or any of the other ingredients.Children under 12 years of age should generally not use the tea.There are no sufficient studies on use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.In these cases, please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Storage

Store lemon balm leaf tea protected from moisture and light, in the original packaging and out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
