Instructions for use of Symbioflor 1 drop

Symbioflor 1 drops are an oral suspension that contains live Enterococcus faecalis bacteria as an active ingredient.This probiotic medicine is used to reduce the relapse rate of recurrent infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, especially inflammation of the sinuses (sinusitis) and bronchi.

No prescription is required for this product.Contains lactose and glucose.

Dosage and application

The recommended dose for adults aged 18 and over is 30 drops 3 times daily.Take the drops in the morning when you get up, at lunchtime before eating and in the evening before going to bed.Hold the drops in your mouth for a minute and gargle before swallowing.The duration of use depends on the nature of the illness and can be up to 6 months for chronic infections.

Shake well before use.The clearly perceptible smell of the solution is characteristic of the product.Symbioflor 1 contains no preservatives and is therefore susceptible to contamination if used improperly.To use, only open the bottle briefly and carefully drain the contents.Do not touch the dropper.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Symbioflor 1 can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Very rarely, headaches, dry mouth, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hives, itching, rash, skin reactions and painful, persistent swelling of the skin and mucous membranes (angioedema) may occur.

Warnings and precautions

Symbioflor 1 must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the culture of Enterococcus faecalis bacteria or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Symbioflor 1 is not suitable for the treatment of symptoms that occur in acute respiratory diseases.It should not be taken during antibiotic treatment or within 5 days of its completion.There are no controlled studies in patients under 18 years of age and over 65 years of age.

Although Symbioflor 1 has no known teratogenic effects, its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should only be carried out after a doctor has carefully weighed the benefits and risks.

Storage

Symbioflor 1 should not be stored above 30 °C and should not be frozen before opening.After opening the bottle for the first time, the contents have a shelf life of 4 weeks and must be stored in the refrigerator (2°C - 8°C).Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children and do not use it after the expiry date stated on the label and carton.

Composition

The active ingredient is bacterial culture (1.0 ml) with Enterococcus faecalis bacteria (DSM 16440, cells and autolysate) corresponding to 1.5 - 4.5 x 10^7 living cells.1 ml corresponds to 12 drops.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, cystine, sodium carbonate decahydrate, sodium chloride, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, potassium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, purified water and standard I nutrient broth (peptone [aus Casein], dry yeast extract, sodium chloride, glucose monohydrate, purified water).
