Neuroplant Aktiv is a herbal medicine used for mild, transient depressive disorders, also known as mild depressive episodes.It helps with depressive moods and is suitable for adults aged 18 and over.No prescription is required for this product.

Neuroplant Aktiv contains St. John's wort dry extract as the active ingredient in a concentration of 600 mg per film-coated tablet.The extract is prepared using methanol 80% (v/v) as an extractant.The preparation also contains the following excipients: ascorbic acid, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, iron (III) hydroxide oxide E 172, hypromellose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), saccharin sodium, precipitated silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide E 171 and vanillin.

Contraindications

Neuroplant Aktiv must not be taken if you have severe, temporary depressive disorders, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients, or if the skin is known to be hypersensitive to light.It must not be used together with certain active ingredients such as ciclosporin, tacrolimus, indinavir, other protease inhibitors in anti-HIV-treatment, irinotecan, imatinib, other cell growth-inhibiting drugs in cancer treatment, warfarin and other antidepressants.

Dosage

Neuroplant Aktiv should always be taken exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.The usual dose for adults aged 18 and over is 1 film-coated tablet daily in the morning, corresponding to 600 mg of St. John's wort extract per day.The film-coated tablets should be taken whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water, and not while lying down.It can be taken regardless of meals.A period of 4-6 weeks is usually required to achieve a significant improvement in symptoms.If the symptoms of the disease persist for longer than 4 weeks or worsen despite taking the prescribed dosage, a doctor should be consulted.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms caused by preparations containing St. John's wort extract have not yet been reported.The known side effects may occur more frequently.After taking massive overdoses, the skin should be protected from sunlight and UV-radiation for a week due to possible increased sensitivity to light.

Forgot to take it

If you forget to take Neuroplant Aktiv, do not take double the amount next time, but continue taking it as prescribed or described.

Intake

Neuroplant Aktiv is intended for oral use.The film-coated tablets should be taken whole with sufficient liquid and not while lying down.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking Neuroplant Aktiv if you are also taking anticoagulants of the coumarin type, digoxin or theophylline.In these cases, the dosage of these medicines should be adjusted.While using Neuroplant Aktiv you should avoid intensive UV-radiation and take additional contraceptive measures when using hormonal contraceptives.There are no sufficient studies on the effect on the ability to drive and operate machines.

Pregnancy

Due to insufficient examinations, Neuroplant Aktiv must not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Neuroplant Aktiv can have side effects.These include rare sunburn-like skin reactions in fair-skinned people, gastrointestinal complaints, allergic reactions, tiredness or restlessness.If you observe any of these side effects, please inform your doctor.

Storage

Neuroplant Aktiv should be kept out of the reach of children and not stored above 30°C.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the carton or container.
