Instructions for use of Eicosan 750 Omega-3 concentrate
Eicosan 750 Omega-3 concentrate is a lipid-lowering agent that is used to lower severely elevated blood fat (triglyceride) levels. The medicine is only given if diet alone is not enough to lower blood fat levels. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient is fish oil rich in omega-3 acids. One soft capsule contains 750 mg of fish oil rich in omega-3 acids, including at least 13% eicosapentaenoic acid and at least 9% docosahexaenoic acid. The other ingredients are All-rac-a-tocopherol, gelatin, glycerol 85%, sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallizing) and purified water.Contains sorbitol.
Areas of application
Eicosan 750 is used to reduce severely elevated blood fat (triglyceride) levels. It is a lipid-lowering agent that hinders the body's production of certain fats in the liver and thus lowers blood fat levels.
Dosage and application
Always take Eicosan 750 exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual adult dose for hypertriglyceridemia can be up to 10-14 capsules per day.The capsules should be taken whole with a little liquid immediately before meals.
If you have lipid metabolism disorders, you should consult your doctor before taking Eicosan 750.Measures such as dietary changes, increased physical activity, and weight loss should precede the use of medications and be maintained during use.Drug treatment is only indicated as an additional measure if the metabolic disorder cannot be remedied by the measures mentioned alone.
The effect of Eicosan 750 can vary in individual cases. In order to achieve the desired treatment goal, long-term regular intake is necessary.Blood lipid levels should be checked repeatedly and regularly.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Eicosan 750 can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include nausea, belching, smell or taste of fish, prolonged bleeding time and moderate elevation of transaminases. In acetylsalicylic acid-sensitive bronchial asthma, lung function may deteriorate.
Contraindications
Eicosan 750 must not be taken if you are allergic to fish oil rich in omega-3 acids or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. The preparation must also not be taken in cases of acute and subacute inflammation of the pancreas, acute pancreatic cell death, acute to chronic liver intoxication, liver shrinkage, acute to chronic gallbladder inflammation, gallbladder dilatation, fat digestion disorders and coagulation disorders.
Warnings and precautions
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Eicosan 750.Regular monitoring of liver function is necessary in patients with liver disease.Because there is insufficient experience, treatment of children is not recommended.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Animal studies with fish oil or fish oil concentrates showed no evidence of teratogenic effects. There is currently no experience with pregnancy and breastfeeding with the high doses required to treat hypertriglyceridemia.Medicines should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding if deemed necessary.
Storage
Keep Eicosan 750 out of the reach of children and do not store it above 25ºC.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the folding box and blister pack.
