Espumisan beads are a gastrointestinal remedy and a diagnostic aid.The active ingredient simeticone causes the gas bubbles embedded in the food and mucus of the digestive tract to break down.The gases released can now be absorbed by the intestinal wall and removed through intestinal movement.Espumisan beads are used for the symptomatic treatment of gas-related gastrointestinal complaints, such as:B. Bloating (meteorism) or flatulence, feeling of fullness.They are also used to prepare for diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area, such as:B. X-rays and sonography (ultrasound).Gas-related complaints can also be an expression of functional disorders in the gastrointestinal area and manifest themselves in feelings of pressure and fullness, premature satiety, belching, intestinal rumbling and flatulence.

Espumisan beads contain the active ingredient simeticone in a dosage of 40 mg per soft capsule.The following excipients are also included: quinoline yellow, gelatin, yellow orange S, glycerol 85% and methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.

Contraindications

Espumisan beads must not be taken if you are allergic to simeticon, yellow orange S (E 110), methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E 218) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.No prescription is required for this product.

Dosage

Always take Espumisan pearls exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.For gas-related gastrointestinal complaints, the recommended dose for children aged 6 years and over and adults is 2 pearls (equivalent to 80 mg simeticone) 3 to 4 times daily.To prepare for diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area, 2 beads each (corresponding to a total of 240 mg Simeticon) should be taken 3 times on the day before the examination and 2 beads (corresponding to 80 mg Simeticon) on the morning of the day of the examination.Espumisan beads are not suitable for younger children (under 6 years) and infants.

Intake

Take Espumisan pearls with or after meals, or before going to bed if necessary.It can also be taken after operations.Take Espumisan pearls for as long as your symptoms persist.If necessary, they can be taken for a longer period of time.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Espumisan beads.If you experience new and/or persistent abdominal problems, you should consult a doctor to clarify the cause of the symptoms.Espumisan beads have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

Due to the effect of simeticone and the lack of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the body, no negative effects are to be expected after taking Espumisan beads during pregnancy and breastfeeding.There are no clinical data for the use of Espumisan beads in pregnant women.

Side effects

Side effects associated with the use of Espumisan beads have not yet been observed.Yellow orange S (E 110) can cause allergic reactions.Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E 218) can cause hypersensitivity reactions, including delayed reactions.

Storage

Keep Espumisan beads out of the reach of children and do not store them above 30 °C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.

Espumisan pearls are sugar-free.No prescription is required for this product.
