What is Maaloxan 25 mVal Suspension and what is it used for?

Maaloxan 25 mVal Suspension is an agent for binding excess stomach acid.It consists of the active ingredients Algeldrat (aluminum hydroxide gel) and magnesium hydroxide.These active ingredients neutralize stomach acid and thereby relieve pain and discomfort.The product is used for the symptomatic treatment of heartburn, acid-related stomach problems and stomach and duodenal ulcers (ventricular ulcer or duodenal ulcer).No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

The active ingredients algeldrat and magnesium hydroxide bind and neutralize stomach acid.They form poorly soluble salts with stomach acid, which are excreted in the stool.This means they are effective against heartburn, belching and other acid-related stomach problems.In addition, the risk of ulcers in the gastrointestinal area is reduced.

The active ingredients are algeldrat and magnesium hydroxide.10 ml suspension (1 bag) contains 230 mg aluminum oxide (corresponding to Algeldrat) and 400 mg magnesium hydroxide.The other ingredients are methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, citric acid monohydrate, saccharin sodium, mannitol, sorbitol solution 70%, peppermint oil, hydrogen peroxide solution 30%, purified water, hydrochloric acid 10% and domiphene bromide.

Maaloxan 25 mVal Suspension is used for the symptomatic treatment of heartburn, acid-related stomach problems and stomach and duodenal ulcers.The suspension helps with a burning sensation in the upper abdomen and chest, acid belching, stomach pressure and stomach pain that often occurs after eating.

Dosage and instructions for use

Before use, knead the bag vigorously and tear it open at the marked point.Either pour the contents of the sachet onto a spoon and take it undiluted or empty it directly from the sachet into your mouth.If necessary, take one sachet several times a day.The daily dose should not exceed 4-6 sachets.If the symptoms persist for longer than 2 weeks, you should see a doctor.Other medicines should generally be taken at least two hours before or after taking Maaloxan 25 mVal Suspension.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to algeldrat, magnesium hydroxide, peppermint oil, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate or any of the other ingredients.The medicine should also not be used if you have severe kidney failure or a reduced phosphate blood level (hypophosphatemia).Children under 12 years of age should not take the medicine.

Side effects

Possible side effects include loose stools.If you have long-lasting or recurring symptoms, you should consult your doctor.

Storage

Keep the medicine out of the reach and reach of children.It should be protected from frost and not stored above 25°C.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the carton and sachet.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Maaloxan 25 mVal Suspension contains sorbitol, peppermint oil, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (parabens).Other medicines should generally be taken at least two hours before or after taking Maaloxan Suspension.If you have persistent stomach problems or if tarry stools occur, blood in the stool or vomiting of blood, you should consult a doctor immediately.

Patient information

Long-lasting and recurring stomach problems can be a sign of a serious illness.Treatment with the drug should therefore not last longer than 14 days without a medical examination.If kidney function is impaired and high doses are taken long-term, aluminum can accumulate in nerve and bone tissue.This can lead to brain damage and anemia or worsen dialysis-related bone softening.
