What is Gaviscon Advance Peppermint and what is it used for?

Gaviscon Advance Peppermint is an alginic acid preparation that is used for the symptomatic treatment of complaints caused by the reflux of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus.It helps with acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion that can occur, for example, after meals, during pregnancy or as a side effect of inflammation of the esophagus.The herbal active ingredient sodium alginate forms a protective layer over the acidic stomach contents that prevents reflux.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Gaviscon Advance Peppermint helps quickly and reliably with heartburn, complaints caused by the reflux of acidic stomach contents (reflux) such as acid belching and indigestion as a result of reflux.It is also suitable for pregnant women and forms a neutral protective layer over the acidic stomach contents so that they cannot rise into the esophagus.

Mode of action

The herbal active ingredient sodium alginate is not absorbed by the body and is simply excreted.This makes Gaviscon Advance Peppermint very well tolerated.This means that the acidic stomach contents can no longer rise into the esophagus.

Ingredients of Gaviscon Advance Peppermint:

10 ml suspension contains: sodium alginate 1000.0 mg, potassium hydrogen carbonate 200.0 mg.

Other ingredients: calcium carbonate 200 mg, carbomer 974 P, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, saccharin sodium, peppermint aroma, equivalent to levomenthol, caustic soda for pH adjustment, water, purified, equivalent to potassium ion 78 mg, equivalent to sodium ion 106 mg, equivalent to calcium ion 80 mg.

Gaviscon Advance Peppermint is free of sugar, gluten and artificial colors.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.Particular caution is required in patients with an increased calcium level in the blood, deposits of calcium salts in the kidneys and kidney stones containing calcium.

Dosage

Recommended use of Gaviscon Advance Peppermint:

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over take 5 to 10 ml (equivalent to 1 to 2 teaspoons) after meals or before going to bed as needed.The suspension can be squeezed directly into the mouth or added to a teaspoon.Dispose of the remaining contents of the sachet quickly.

Gaviscon Advance Peppermint should only be given to children under 12 years of age on medical advice.No dosage adjustment is required for older people.

Do not take Gaviscon Advance Peppermint for more than 7 days without medical advice.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should only take medication after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

No other medicine should be taken within two hours of taking Gaviscon Advance Peppermint as interactions may occur.Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or planning to take any other medicines.

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the sachet and outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Do not store in the refrigerator!
