Talcid chewable tablets are a medicinal product for the symptomatic treatment of conditions where excess stomach acid needs to be bound. They are used to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers as well as heartburn and acid-related stomach complaints. Each chewable tablet contains 500 mg hydrotalcite as the active ingredient. The chewable tablets act quickly and reliably against heartburn and have a mild peppermint flavour. They relieve stomach and oesophageal pain, protect the damaged stomach lining and strengthen its natural reconstruction. The maximum dosage is 12 chewable tablets a day. Talcid chewable tablets are suitable for adolescents from 12 years and adults and are easy to dose. The medicine should not be used for longer than 2 weeks unless prescribed by a doctor. Side effects may occur with high doses, such as gastrointestinal complaints and increased magnesium and aluminium levels. Talcid chewable tablets are well tolerated and have a lasting effect. The package leaflet should be read before taking the medicine and a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if you are unsure. The medicinal product should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients, impaired kidney function, hypophosphataemia or the neurological disorder myasthenia gravis.
