Rennie® provides quick relief from heartburn and acid-related stomach problems.The chewable tablets are particularly practical and easy to use.They are also suitable for pregnant women and are free of aluminum.The pleasant peppermint taste makes it even more enjoyable to take.

Area of application

Rennie® peppermint chewable tablets help with heartburn and acid-related stomach problems.The tablets work quickly and relieve symptoms after taking one or two chewable tablets.They are also suitable during pregnancy as they are very well tolerated.The chewable tablets convert excess stomach acid into water and other natural substances and taste pleasantly of peppermint.

Heartburn occurs when stomach acid rises into the esophagus.This can happen due to spontaneous relaxation of the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach or due to increased pressure in the abdominal cavity, for example during pregnancy or after certain meals.Rennie® peppermint chewable tablets relieve heartburn and acid-related stomach problems such as stomach pressure or feeling of fullness.They are also suitable for pregnant women as they are very well tolerated.

Mode of action

Rennie® peppermint chewable tablets have a local effect in the stomach.The active ingredients calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate quickly and reliably neutralize excess stomach acid.Calcium carbonate works quickly, while magnesium carbonate has a delayed effect but provides long-lasting relief.

One tablet of Rennie® peppermint chewable tablets contains 680 mg of calcium carbonate and 80 mg of magnesium carbonate.Other ingredients include potato starch, magnesium stearate, corn starch, thin paraffin, sucrose, talc, peppermint flavor and lemon flavor.

The active ingredients calcium carbonate and heavy, basic magnesium carbonate neutralize excess stomach acid and convert it into water and other natural substances.Their effect is limited locally to the stomach, which allows for quick relief.

No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications

This product should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, have high calcium levels, have kidney dysfunction, have kidney stones or have low phosphate blood levels.

Dosage

Children over twelve years of age and adults can suck or chew one to two chewable tablets up to three times a day if necessary, ideally one hour after meals or before bedtime.If symptoms are particularly severe, you can take up to eleven tablets per day.

The duration of use depends on the type and intensity of the symptoms.If there is no improvement or even a deterioration after 14 days, please consult a doctor.A visit to the doctor is also recommended if there is an overdose of calcium.

If you are taking Rennie® at the same time as other medications, please discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist.Keep Rennie® peppermint chewable tablets out of the reach of children and do not use them after the expiration date.Important for diabetics: One chewable tablet corresponds to 0.04 BE.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug.Long-lasting and recurring stomach problems can be a sign of a serious illness.Treatment with this medicine should therefore not last longer than 14 days without a medical examination.In patients with gastric or duodenal ulcer, testing for the gastric bacterium H. pylori and, if detected, approved antibacterial therapy should be considered.

If tarry stools, blood in the stool or vomiting of blood occur, please see a doctor immediately.In patients with impaired kidney function, calcium, phosphate and magnesium blood levels should be checked regularly when taking products containing calcium and magnesium carbonate.

Long-term use of high doses can lead to undesirable drug effects such as increased calcium and magnesium blood levels, phosphate depletion with the risk of bone softening (osteomalacia) and milk-alkaline syndrome, especially in patients with impaired kidney function.Therefore, large amounts of milk or dairy products should not be consumed with this preparation.Long-term use increases the risk of kidney stone formation.

The preparation has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should only take medication after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

Other

If there is a tendency to form kidney stones, the calcium in the urine should be carefully monitored.If large amounts are taken over the long term, the calcium and magnesium blood levels should be checked regularly, as in this case, just as with impaired kidney function, elevated calcium and magnesium blood levels can occur and even magnesium poisoning.
